I can't wait! ;p

..
The Possession of Michael King looks stupid.. kind of a similar to 'Deliver Us From Evil'.. just over-produced, religious horror.

November Man looks okay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m8V7G7e7gw
Pierce Brosnan training a new assassin or something.

Really hope I can make it to the theater this weekend before Lucy gets pulled :(

Automata (October 10th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yfy2I2R5-g

Looks nice. Another Isaac Asimov 3 laws movie (like "I, Robot"), though this one looks more serious and seems to borrow future styles and posthuman questions from Blade Runner.

Apparently Underworld will be "rebooted" .. which makes no sense to me. Just continue the story, don't start it all over again.. :/

..and of course it's about money. Should have figured.. so now it "makes sense":

Best Underworld is still the first one.

"Just continue the story"

I'm not sure I'd want to continue from the Awakening story... That movie was sort of bad.

With so many original creative scripts out there it's sad that reboots take away funds, understandable due to branding and all that, but sad.

Atlas Shrugged Part III will have limited release on September 12th (this Friday). Should be funny to see them break their own continuities again. Laura Regan (she was the lead in 2002's "They") plays Dagny this time, and it looks like all the other characters have new actors too..

Otherwise, Zero Theorem in 2 weeks!!! :D

This looks good:

"Before I Go To Sleep" (October 31st)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtSzAEvBIK0

Sort of "Memento"+"50 First Dates", so it's a thriller about a character (Nicole Kidman) whose memory resets after sleeping, except people have been lying to her and murder.

John Wick (October 24th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RllJtOw0USI

:D
Action movie with some pretty cheesy launch-into-vengeance clichés, but it's a Keanu Reeves movie directed by a stunt coordinator (Chad Stahelski), so the action should at least be entertaining :p

Should also be interesting to see if Chad Stahelski did the same thing that Scott Waugh (Need for Speed director) did, which was to focus way too much on his strengths (stunt direction) at the expense of ... basically everything else :D

Kirk Cameron wants people to know that many have Christmas all wrong. It's not a Christian holiday with pagan origins, but a Christian creation through and through.

In his new film, "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas," the former "Growing Pains" star and popular evangelical figure told the Christian Post he's taking aim at all the people "who really want to put a big wet blanket on the celebration."

http://ima...-camerons-saving-christmas.png

The "Growing Pains" star dismisses theories that Christmas is derived in the pagan celebration of Winter Solstice in "Saving Christmas," offering viewers a Biblical reference to items such as the Christmas tree instead. Furthermore, the film reveals Cameron's take on Santa Claus, the three wisemen, and why Christmas is celebrated on Dec. 25 each year.

that should be interesting

December Pop Movie Reminder!

- Exodus: Gods and Kings {12 December}
- The Hobbit, Part 3 {17 December}
- Night at the Museum, Part 3 {19 December}

Imitation Game was supposed to come out last weekend, but apparently that was only in NYC, L.A., and Pyongyang. The worst cities shouldn't get rewarded like that, but I guess it's a humanitarian thing.

January should be fun:

- Taken 3 {9 January}
- Predestination {9 January} (looks like Timecop! ;D )

Looks like Taken 3 undid the work of the first two by having Famke Janssen die in the first five minutes, but life can be crazy when you party naked.

No more Tolkien films after The Battle of the Five Armies

“Tolkien has become a monster, devoured by his own popularity and absorbed by the absurdity of our time,” Tolkien’s son Christopher told Le Monde in 2012.

“The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work and what it has become has overwhelmed me. The commercialisation has reduced the aesthetic and philosophical impact of the creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: to turn my head away.”

Hopefully those effects still weren't finished when they made that trailer, because that looks really terrible. Sad when modern blockbusters still haven't caught up with James Cameron's 1991 methods... was hoping they would move forward with Terminator Salvation's work, instead it looks like Terminator 3 again :/

2nd Mad Max trailer released:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGQZ0mE3UgQ
{movie out May 15th}

Looks really good! I haven't had to bother with my "don't watch trailers for movies I want to see" rule for a while because there hasn't been much that looks really interesting, but I stopped watching this one after 30 seconds.
Also just looked up the director; it's George Miller! He directed the other Mad Max movies, so it shouldn't just be a bad remake — should be very good

Other things..

The Phoenix Project {16 January}
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhcnhcpGs6s
(scientists make a reanimator machine; trailer only gives the setup, not how it will go)

Dark Summer {9 January}
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zj0mua5oJk
(teen deals with ghost of dead friend. Could be lame; seems like a bad metaphor for technology replacing interaction, where his failure to actually know this person results in horrors)

True Story {Sundance festival}
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_NiP_bqlns
James Franco and Jonah Hill drama about a killer who takes the identity of Hill's character. Looks okay, but not out for mass release until April.

In keeping with producers stealing each other's scripts, similar to "The Phoenix Project" will be..

"The Lazarus Effect"/"Reawakening" {27 February}
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2918436/
(reanimator situation, this time starring Olivia Wilde and Donald Glover oddly enough)

Apparently Relativity Media has been having promotional issues with this.. maybe they rushed to get it in theater (not a surprise; stolen script movies always rush production, either because they stole it and want to be first or theirs was stolen and they don't want to seem like the copy). Right now they don't seem to have the trailer online, but the trailer has made it to theaters... Looks good, anyways :)

The trend of making 80s horror into found-footage seems to be going strong. This looks like maybe a found-footage version of Scanners:

The Atticus Institute (was released 20 January)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykHqyClnz1g
- $4.99 on iTunes

And The Phoenix Project made it to VOD also. Probably going to pick that to watch this weekend... kind of annoying how few horror movies make it to theater anymore

This just came out for VOD:
"Backcountry" (2015-03-20 release)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46uwmzTf5nA

It's basically like "The Edge" (1997) in that a people-eating bear stalks in the wilderness, except it was done in a semi-found footage style like that "Open Water" (2003) movie. Weirdly, it's being rated highly on Rotten Tomatoes (which usually hates horror movies by default). That probably means that it's a terrible movie...

Can't decide whether or not to download :/
