How about burned them in the streets, shot people en masse, gased people to death, macheted to bits etc. just because of the hats they wore or the god they worshipped. Has been going on for millenia. Seems odd to find something you think is off beat and reach the conclusion that 2016 was somehow pivotal for violent bigotry.
