You're not triggering the same old group of boomer white men like you do with the NFL. And it's less about the politics than the fact that the NBA is dominated by super teams and super players like Le Bron. It's just boring to watch the NBA be dominated by teams for years on end. In the NFL, any team can suddenly have a resurgeance because of a good draft and because there are fewer games which gives underdogs more of a shot.

Anyway, I do believe the BLM messaging, the China hypocrisy, and the unnecessarily long NBA playoffs bleeding into football season have a strong effect on ratings.
