Russia was outnumbered in country within days and outequipped within weeks. Such is the nature of conscription based mass mobilization and really deep soviet era reserve materiell. Tack on Western aid in the 100 billion+ range and it is exactly what you would expect it to be. Admittedly, I was really surprised by the raid tactics with small forces. I thought Russia would push on a broader front, then attrition the crap out of Ukraine once the frontline stabilized. Oh well, it ended up there in the end.
