We need Big Daddy Job Creators because we cant create our own livelihoods!” etc. Do you remember when you became this frightened of everything? Do you remember why? Authoritarianism is generally linked to paternalism, psychologically - having a big strong Daddy (as they embarrassingly call Trump) even as an adult to protect you. Authoritarianism is well-established as generally being linked to paternalism/daddy issues. Did your daddy beat you? Were you afraid of him? Did he make you feel utterly dependent on him for food and survival? How did you become frightened children in adult bodies?
