Trump absolutely crushed the incumbent Senator from Texas.

In case anyone is wondering about the Trump effect. In the first round of voting ...

Cornyn: 907,239 votes

Paxton: 881,141 votes

Cornyn lost more than 400,000 votes from the first round to the runoff.

Those voters apparently wouldn't vote for Paxton, but they abandoned Cornyn after Trump endorsed his opponent. I have no idea what that means for the election in November.

Too bad the Democrats couldn't get a sane candidate on their end. This would be the one election they could win in Texas if they had.

You know, that's probably exactly the reason for the nice tweet.

Cornyn doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would burn the building down on the way out the door, so it might work too.
