Philly fans are the most retarded fans in the NFL. McNabb can be a bit of a douchebag but he's probaly the best QB in NFC east.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=txeaglesredskinstrade

PHILADELPHIA(AP)â??Donovan McNabb(notes) is changing uniforms and staying in the NFC East.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded McNabb to the Washington Redskins for a pair of draft picks on Sunday night. The Eagles will receive a second-round pick (37th overall) in this monthâ??s NFL draft and either a third- or fourth-round pick next year.

â??Donovan McNabb was more than a franchise quarterback for this team,â?? Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie said. â??He truly embodied all of the attributes of a great quarterback and of a great person. He has been an excellent representative of this organization and the entire National Football League both on and off the field. I look forward to honoring him as one of the greatest Eagles of all-time and hopefully see him enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton one day.â??

ESPN.com was the first to report that the 33-year-old McNabb had been traded.

McNabb, a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, led the Eagles to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl in 11 seasons in Philadelphia. His failure to lead the team to its first NFL championship since 1960 plus the emergence of Kevin Kolb(notes) made him expendable.

McNabb, the No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 draft, is the franchiseâ??s career leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, pass attempts, and completions.

Kolb, who has started two games in three seasons, becomes the starter. Michael Vick(notes) is the backup.

â??This was a very tough decision,â?? coach Andy Reid said. â??Donovan McNabb represented everything a football player could be during his 11 seasons in Philadelphia. He carried this organization to new heights and set a high standard of excellence both on and off the field. We thank him for everything he did for this football team and for this city.â??

McNabb threw for 3,553 yards and 22 touchdowns with 10 interceptions in 14 games last season, leading the Eagles to the playoffs. His passer rating of 92.9 was the third-highest in his career.

But McNabb played poorly in a loss to Dallas in Week 17 that cost Philadelphia a division title and a first-round bye. He also struggled in a loss to the Cowboys the following week in the wild-card game.

Reid said immediately after the season that McNabb would return in 2010. Reid repeated that several times throughout the offseason until acknowledging last month the team was listening to offers for all three of its QBs.

â??Donovan is the ultimate professional,â?? Eagles president Joe Banner said. â??He has an incredible work ethic and has been an integral part of our success. Over the years, Donovan has always carried himself with a great deal of dignity. Heâ??s an excellent role model for young men and women from across the region. In my mind, heâ??ll always be remembered as one of the greatest Eagles of all time.â??

Don't know that if I'm McNab I don't retire. Good lord going from an average o line to a poor one isn't going to help McNabb whose primary problem the last few years has been a slow accumulation of minor injuries as the season progresses.

"Philly fans are the most retarded fans in the NFL. McNabb can be a bit of a douchebag but he's probaly the best QB in NFC east."

Right, because Philly fans are the ones who traded McNabb. Fucking idiot.

That said, I cannot believe that the front office would trade the team's best QB in Philly history to an inter-division rival.

I'm looking forward to a 4-12 season now. With two of those losses being beatdowns by a now-relevant Redskins team.

NOt going to happen TPTB. I don't care who your QB is if your offensive line sucks. Your QB isn't going to have a banner year. And McNabb isn't nearly as agile as he once was.

Oh god. I had been hoping the Skins would taken Jimmy Clausen so I wouldn't have to worry about the Browns drafting his retarded ass.

What the hell are the redskins thinking? Do they hate draft picks or something?

Lets see the skins gave up a two and a three to get better at the premier position in the NFL? Assuming McNabb doesn't get killed early on because the skins line doesn't pass block particularly well that probably isn't a bad move.

Skins still need to work on that offensive line unless they've already done something to shore it up that I am not aware of which since I'm not a redskins fan could well be... Right now it looks like they'll all be chasing Dallas again.

I hope the Cowboys get a replacement for Flozell he in his whole damn career hasn't been able to effectively handle a speed rusher.

Well, being an Eagles fan since I realized that there was such a thing as football. I'm used to this. We traded Sunny Jergunsen to the Skins for Norm Snead back in the 60's and it took 15 years for the team to become relevant after that.

Here is my thinking on this. MONEY. It frees up enough money to keep Vic, Kolb will remain as backup. Who knows at this point if Andy has something else up his sleeve. Everyone hated him when he picked McNabb in the draft 11 years ago and were proven wrong. It will be an interesting year.

No, they will start Kevin Kolb. McNabb is 34 years old. He has maybe two good years left, and the Redskins traded a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him. Campbell sucked last year because he had no receivers and a terrible o-line.

Redskins will still be terrible this year.

LOL...

Idiots think that Vick is going to be their starter? If he is then Reid is an even bigger retard than I ever thought he was.

This move is bizarre only due to the destination for McNabb, not because they dumped his overrated ass (Limbaugh was right about him actually) or what they got for him.

Kolb will run that offense just fine, maybe even better once he gets a few more starts under his belt. Kolb is accurate, McNabb is not. Sure McNabb has a stronger arm, but frankly, arm strength in the NFL is overrated. Brady has a average arm at best, but still is the best in the game, because he is accurate and smart.

One things t keep in mind about McNabb's stats, Yes they are the best in eagles history. But how many hall of fame quarterbacks have played for the Eagles for any length of time since the league found out you could throw passes on downs other than 3rd?

me? no. I'm saying that the top 3 QB's (manning, brady and brees) are all real damn good. brady stands out for being most successful (post season).

if you were talking about garyd, pretty sure he's insulting mcnabb's accomplishments.

Not insulting them placing them in the proper perspective. Being the Best quarterback in Eagles history doesn't exactly place you in elite company.

I was replying to garyd.

Brady is the best, this argument has been settled with his '07 season, no shame in being Manning or Brees though (well a little in being Manning actually) but Brady is just better.

As to the eagles not having any 'elite' QBs ever...

well I think that's probably too dependent on individual definitions of what 'elite' means, but they have not been a QB poor team historically either. They've actually had decent luck recently with having stability at the position. McNabb-->Cunningham-->Jaws...

Sure there were others inbetween a bit but really you can't complain much about the quality of those guys. Not HoFers, but hell, good enough to keep the team in the playoffs and a couple SB appearances.

Look at the other teams in that division and tell me which have had 'elite' QBs over the past 15 years or so?

Every time that the Redskins get a black QB they win a Super Bowl. Best trade they ever made right here.

Jaworski in his playing days was Mr. Sack'o'matic Slowest release in football.

The only Eagles quarterbacks in the Hall of fame only played for them for two or three years at the end of their careers and got most of their stats serving with others. The Eagles have won three Super bowls. Joe Theisman and Mark Rypien won two of them they were both Caucasian.

The Eagles haven't won a national championship since the eartly 60's. They have had reasonable success in the QB possition due in large part to a pretty good O-line with Jaws (telegraphed most of his pass's) Cunningham helped himself with his feet, McNabb only had a few years with better than average recievers but most of his years have been with better than average O-line.

With out a good O-line, you can have JC and his 12 deciples in the back field and you won't do shit.

Meant the Redskins obviously, Theisman and Rypien neer quarterbacked the Eagles...

Yes but their only hall of fame Quarterback retied in sixty or sixtyone after playing the last three years of his career for Philidelphia.

It tells you a bit when to date their best receiver was T.O. who played there only two years.
