Utopia Talk / Politics / Trump excited about ruining economy

So, the tax reform plan has passed and Trump is touting how it will be a boom for the economy, except by leading economists' analysis indicated would most probable not be the case. Remember Trumpicans hate facts, so they will ignore because Trump's name is attached to it.

But...

Let's not ignore some added features to the tax reform plan at the last minute that should make you question it still. The added pet projects. In order for some GOP members to be on board to support it this must be met, here are some examples;

-Tax exemptions for cruise ships docking in Alaska. (claim without it this is hurting Alaska's economy)

-A Christian College (private) so they can receive funding since they do not receive federal or state funding. However, large Universities with large endowments have impositions placed on them with this new plan. Conveniently enough the Christian College gets exempt.

-New drilling in Artic National Wildlife Refuge

-Pro-life bill: allowing families to save money for education in tax-privileged accounts for children "at any stage of development" - including those carried in the womb. (This made me LOL)

-Football (seriously): The bills would do away with a range of privileges enjoyed by sports teams, such as the tax-free status given to professional football leagues.

-The House bill also strikes at tax-privileged financing for sports stadiums and a perk related to purchases of college athletics tickets. (Hey, but those big corporate tax cuts need to be ensured though, except...)

-Church Power: (Under current law, nonprofits - including churches and schools - cannot participate in political campaigns and retain their tax-free status.)

Not anymore: allowing nonprofits to make political statements, assuming they incur minimal expense and are made "in the ordinary course of the organisation's business".

Private jets- No need for explanation.

Carried interests: Primarily for Trump's friends. During his campaign for president, Donald Trump pledged to eliminate this controversial benefit, which provides managers of companies - including private equity firms - a lower tax rate on money received for overseeing investments.

But the perk stands, although the House bill would require that the investment be held for at least three years to qualify for the lower rate, which was intended to encourage "long-term" capital investments.

Duped. You just got duped. So, let's sit back and watch the economy regress and then have Trumpicans blame Obama.

Good job Trumpicantards.

$1 trillion increase in the deficit

$500 billion increase in annual interest payments within 10 years

Huge tax breaks for corporations and the rich

Tiny little baby ones for everyone else, which will be more than offset by cuts to programs that help the lower and middle classes

let’s see.. consumer confidence highest in 16 years.. record stock market.. unemployment lowest in 16 years.. gdp on pace for 3 consecutive quarters over 3% growth [something obama could not accomplish in two terms]

and then stocks fall 350 points on the msm fake news that trump told flynn to reach out to russians *before*the election.. making people fear trump presidency and trump’s expert guidance of economy was in jeopardy

leftists sure live in a state of ignorance and fantasy

"Skyrocket" is an exaggeration term utilized by those who think even the most miniscule of a rise is "skyrocketing." It is inherently clever that Trump and morons who are following him, such as yourself, take credit for an economy that was already growing and still progressing based upon previous administration policies and still mistakenly think that consumer confidence was all Trump's doing. Which any research you will find that consumer confidence hit highest during Obama's term.

So, shut up putin fluffer.

typical dumb liberal fake news propaganda before election

http://mon...ump-hillary-clinton/index.html

If Donald Trump wins the election, U.S. stocks (and likely many other markets overseas) will almost certainly tank.
How big of a drop? Forecasting firm Macroeconomic Advisors predicts an 8% fall in the U.S. A new paper out Friday from the Brookings Institute projects a 10% to 15% nosedive. You get the idea.

A Trump victory would be "America's Brexit." It would shock U.S. and global markets, much like the surprise June referendum in the U.K. where 52% voted to leave the European Union.

Almost everyone on Wall Street currently predicts Hillary Clinton will win the White House. A Trump triumph would likely cause investors to flee stocks to the safety of gold and bonds. Trump is the king of unpredictability (something Wall Street hates), and he's campaigned on an anti-trade agenda, which wouldn't be good for big business.

The TCJA passed by a vote of 51-49, with Sen. Bob Corker being the only Republican to vote against it.

"One has to wonder why Trump, Retard Rod, and other repubtards want to make better levels of education more expensive to obtain."

While there shouldn't be a financial barrier, university should be a lot less available to people in general. I'm not sure why the view has developed that university is for everyone. It isn't.

And by and large, the people that don't belong are the ones taking up jobs that shouldn't exist and reeking havoc on our social institutions and undermining the education system with poor research with ideologically motivated conclusions and lesson plans.

University, as an institution, is compromised because of the vast sums of money involved, which encourage them all to take more students, creating greater levels of debt, and pumping out retards.

It affects graduate student tuition waivers for RA's and TA's you fucking moron. Most graduate students get by on some combination of stipends and student loans. And if they're not using the latter (which piles on the debt), they are barely scraping by. Taxing their tuition waivers will either force more grad students to accrue more debt each semester (never a good thing), or even prevent some from attending/continuing grad school because it bumps them into a higher tax bracket.

Taxing grad student tuition waivers is about the dumbest thing these fucking morons could have done. Retard Rod claims to be interested in the health of the country - well fucking over the students seeking graduate degrees is the last thing anyone should support if they're really interested in the long term health of the country.

Lol some of these arguments are beyond dumb.

The gop voter base right now are uneducated whites. They want to create as many serfs as possible to help support their oligarchs.

Virginia and next year's election will show that the gop will lose white college grads or win them by the tiniest margins in literally a century.

The onky hope they have is by keeping people as dumb and helpless as possible so that they will vote for the next cheap demagogue the gop puts out.

Right. It definitely doesn't matter that we're hamstringing this country's ability to produce graduate students in areas like chemistry, physics, natural resources, ecology, biology, biochemistry, all areas of engineering, atmospheric sciences, etc...

I disagree with financial barriers, but also don't think this is a problem. Mostly, it will affect non-STEM students.

"At the master's degree level, the greatest numbers of degrees were conferred in the fields of business (189,000), education (155,000), and health professions and related programs (97,000)."

The last thing the world needs is more business students anyways.

"At the doctor's degree level, the greatest numbers of degrees were conferred in the fields of health professions and related programs (67,400), legal professions and studies (44,200), education (10,900), engineering (10,000), biological and biomedical sciences (8,300), psychology (6,600), and physical sciences and science technologies (5,800)."

I can see it as a problem for doctoral students, which tend to be in valuable fields, but there should be options available to them. If not, oh well for now. Maybe you can try and fix your for profit, over following with useless bodies and degrees higher education system, and this wouldn't be a problem.

As it is this is probably going to do more good than harm.

"The last thing the world needs is more business students anyways."

The 250k education/health vastly outweigh the 190k useless business masters degrees.

"but there should be options available to them. If not, oh well for now."

That's not a good stance. "oh, well, guess y'all just GET FUCKED!" is terrible policy. This "tax reform" shit is terrible policy. You clearly realize this, and yet you regularly comment that you don't care, and it's worth it anyways. This is why you're stupid: you realize exactly why this is bad, yet you're fine with it anyway. Because, what? reasons? spite? The higher education in the US might be chaotic in implementation, but it's also the best in the world. Saying "you should fix all that other stuff" is no reason to break this. That's illogical. That's stupid.
