The Twitterman's pick for Education Secretary, Betsy Devos, has canceled the program that canceled student loan debt to failed for profit universities.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Trump have a failed university?

Why yes. So with the wells-fargo act that passed.

This gets correlated with that, so consumers and be further screwed over. And because we have a lot of trumptards here and those who claim "I didn't vote for trump" but yet defend him on every turn. Will say this is a good think and that it was the persons fault for going to a "fake" for profit university.

In other news FCC won't acknowledge the many fake accounts used to push their agenda repealing net neutrality that were made by Russian accounts.

Nothing to see here folks!

the word 'university' should not be applied to the scam known as "Trump University"... even 'fake university' is too generous

it was renamed to the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative for being so misleading & in violation of New York education laws

But I'm sure that the Dept. of Education under Betsy DeVos will demand payment from those who got screwed but Trump University. Got to pay for them student loans don't you know.

How dare Trump dupe hardworking taxpayers into giving over their money for a scam?

jergul, and just who do you think is going to pay the interest on that debt until it is "repaid?"

"Will say this is a good think and that it was the persons fault for going to a "fake" for profit university."

You mean to say that it's taxpayers' fault?

First off, there is no interest on the debt. That is not how treasury issues work. Bonds and notes are issued with a value, then auctioned off at something less than that value. They are redeemed at the issue value.

2ndly, predominantly international lenders that are predominantly Chinese will continue to buy new issues used to pay for the old issues and for ongoing expenses of course.

What the Chinese don't cover, inflation will (US debt continues to devalue at the rate of inflation).

But thank God the Department of Education is stepping up to protect foreign investors. It clearly is within the department's mandate to do exactly that.

At what point do the foreign investors cash in the Bonds and T-Bills?

When they no longer have USD they need to recycle.

So at some point after the combined US trade balance 1945-22xx is positive.

Curious how foreign investors have anything to do with student debt to failed for profit universities?

HR was invoking taxpayer interests in seeing student loans payed in full.

I merely pointed out that he is actually just looking out for foreign institutional investment interests.

Government spending does not actually matter for as long as foreigner pick up the tab (which they do in any scenario where debt servicing costs are lower than the rate of inflation).

I see. It was HR who has gone off the rails. The way I read it was that it was about students having to repay student loans they took out while being duped by fraudulent or totally fail fake for profit universities. Some how it seems that he thinks the taxpayers are going to foot the bills from these con artists.

Thomas (in your wife's angry voice)
Yah, I sometimes humour HRs argument by taking them on face value.

Say hi to Aspire in this holiday season. He will be glad to hear this is still an infested cesspool I am sure.

I will. We are now living in the same house. We still are polar opposites politically but that makes it fun.

I predict that if Trump lasts the entire eight years that he is entitled to serve, the debt will be reduced by a substantial amount.

That is not even on the table HR.
