"warning that corporations cannot “attack conservatives”"

a weird way to look at it... sounds more like a conservative attacking a corporation

basically this guy wants to end corporate welfare, but only end it for the companies that do not provide discounts to his political allies.

well conservatives do know that since they have been driven from the cultural discussion they need to use the power of the tools they still control. Like the government.

Corruption is fine because you became culturally stale?

Seriously, fuck off Aeros.

They sure jumped headfirst into the political arena with the proclamation of wanting to remain neutral. Everyone clearly exposed their poker hand.

Bloody noses all around.

Lol no. You have kinda missed the point. Conservatives have not become culturally stale. They have become culturally silent. If they were stale and old news Trump would not be a thing, the Italian Fascists would not be serious parliamentary contenders, and the UK would still be in the EU.

I dont have to agree with the Right wing to know where this is going. If you read what georgies Lt. Governor actuallg wrote, you will note that Delta and the NRA are incidental. His arguments were explicitly tribal. Someone had attacked the Right, and as consequence they would pay for it.

Any student of history can tell you where this is going.

"Conservatives have not become culturally stale."

Their entire social movement has been pretty categorically dismissed, and not just from the loud and obnoxious lefties. People just aren't very interested in oppressing minorities and stomping on the rights of the gays.

"If they were stale and old news Trump would not be a thing"

You're confusing what attracts people to populist movements with attraction to the culture.

"If you read what georgies Lt. Governor actuallg wrote, you will note that Delta and the NRA are incidental."

I read what he wrote.

"His arguments were explicitly tribal. Someone had attacked the Right, and as consequence they would pay for it."

Yes, I know what he wrote. It was pretty clear corruption and/or abuse of public office. We should be making people who take this stance very scarce in politics and public discourse. And please don't make the mistake of interpreting that as an attack on conservatives, because it's an attack on corruption and abuse of power. It just so happens that such things are pretty well associated with conservatives. I'm all for taking out dems with the same nasty habits.

Confusing Republicans with Conservatives. Republicans were equal opportunity voter suppressors. Not just minority but also urban whites too. They were pretty egalitarian that way lol.

Also conservatism itself is not an easily quantifiable movement beyond trying to put the brakes on social change. Whatever that change happens to be. Conservatives are comfortable with existing systems. Whatever those systems happen to be. Its why they make great administrators but shitty entrepreneurs.

The issue here though the culture war defeat of the conservatives was total. Literally burn it to the ground total. People who thought they knew the rules are now adrift not knowing the rules anymore. Even worse, the left has followed its victory up by assailing understood biological norms like Gender, and accusing the defeated of inherited racial animus.

This is a recipe for war. Plain and simple.

"People just aren't very interested in oppressing minorities and stomping on the rights of the gays. "

"I'm going to misuse government power because you attacked my gun rights group"

"Muh minorities and gays"

No need for an eloquent post. You took an OP about gun rights/corporate welfare and made it about muh gays

It was pretty relevant a decade and a half ago as part of the republican battle cry. You may thank Aeros for making such things a valid part of the discussion.

"You took an OP about gun rights/corporate welfare"

It sounded like the OP was about corruption to me.

Good deal, let Delta just pack up their corporate HQ and move to a more friendly location. I'm sure the voters of Georgia will be more than glad to make up for any tax losses.

Cagle should stop for a second and think where he get his campaign funds from. He's a mere Lt. Governor and as such is a puppet to corporate largess.

"About time"

This is massively unconstitutional. Of course, Republicans rarely bother to read the Constitution so ...

Which clause does this violate?

A State has virtually unlimited power when it comes to applying its tax laws. Probably the only way a State could make an unconstitutional tax law is if it made white people pay a 5% income tax and black people a 10% income tax.

In this particular case though this was Delta wanting a sales tax exemption so they could get a benefit other people don't. The benefit was denied. Perfectly legal.

If the Ga. lawmakers write the bill repeating what the retarded Lt. Gov said, something like "We remove tax breaks for anyone who does not support NRA", then you can argue constitutionality. But they just took delta jet fuel tax break without specifically saying it, so thats taxing power, not unconstitutional

If you don't want unequal corporate tax breaks being weaponized, end unequal corporate tax breaks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The tax break applies to all aviation fuel purchases. Delta just happens to be the airline with the big georgia hub....muhahaha

So by the letter of the law its very evenly applied.

That hub is a portable thing. It doesn't even have to be in one location. I'm sure that there are other cities and states that might be interested in having Delta or any other big carrier based there.

"Which clause does this violate?"

You mean aside from the 1st Amendment clause? They explicitly admitted that they were using the power of the state to punish a corporation for expressing political views.

The fact that these politicians are also using the power of the state to try to coerce a corporation into giving discounts to an organization that contributes to their campaigns is also a legal issue.

Sam, How so? Is there somewhere where it is mandated that Corporations have their base of operations only in certain cities?
Do you think that the fuel tax break wasn't part of the deal that lured Delta to Atlanta in the first place?

Lol patom. Please try to find... or create... another 5 runway 200 gate benign weather megahub in the southeast.

Portable... no. It would take decades.
