Utopia Talk / Politics / Obama facing resistance

Member | Fri Mar 02 14:10:22 Fairly long article... http://www...lide-on-the-south-side/545243/ "Chicago’s Obama Presidential Center will bring a surge of investment to a long-troubled neighborhood. Why aren’t the residents celebrating?" Is this a spur, such as related to, eminent domain in action, and will there be outrage? |

Member | Fri Mar 02 14:47:09 Barack Obama doesn't care about black people. |

Member | Fri Mar 02 15:38:34 Black resisting black kind of rules out racism as an argument. Nothing left besides gentrification. Seems the argument could be valid or like Rugian said--> Obama doesn't care about increasing their hardships compared to his Presidential Legacy. It's a double edged sword. |

Revved Up | Fri Mar 02 16:26:31 The last I heard he wanted to build it in a park that was given to the city decades ago on condition that it remain a park without any building on it. IIRC he would need about 25% of the land for his "library". Plus it is not close to the ghetto so it would be a hardship for those that might get some good out of visiting it. |

Member | Fri Mar 02 16:59:54 HR: Reason why I questioned this being a spur of eminent domain. If rent goes up two-hundred a month the affordability could become a problem for many people. Improvements come with cost. That is a pretty good chunk for many people. You could move to a crappy neighborhood and buy a couple of guns. Hell yeah! Tom: Is it inside or outside? My bad! I think it is time for me to return to my other dimension of reality. |

Member | Fri Mar 02 18:40:58 Some interesting data from Chicago police - 1957 through 2016. I can't argue that it isn't rising, but may not be for the reasons she states. Dahleen Glanton should have contacted the police before she embellished her agenda. http://www...e-1957-20160302-htmlstory.html Anyway this thread isn't about gun control. |
