He was given the task, in the late 30's, to write a report on what would be needed from our industry if we went to war with Japan or Germany. It seems rolling steel 24/7 to build the tanks and trucks and planes and ships that would b needed to fight a long ground war. Not sure how many planes and trucks were built, but I heard we built something like 24,000 tanks and about 100 small aircraft carriers plus all of the rest we built. They certainly needed as much steel and aluminum as quickly as the could get it. And even with IKE's "blueprint" it took months before we could mount our first counter-attack. What do you think our industry could do if we went to war tomorrow?
