Utopia Talk / Politics / Trump channels his inner Nixon

Comrade Trump fired FBI Deputy Director McCabe in a campaign of smears and lies. The allegations that he leaked classified information to various sources. And of course something to do with Hillary Clinton because their obsession with her really shows that they must really like her.

Interesting note; Clintons and Trumps were good friends.

Here is the statement released by McCabe;

Statement by Andrew McCabe:

I have been an FBI Special Agent for over 21 years. I spent half of that time investigating Russian Organized Crime as a street agent and Supervisor in New York City. I have spent the second half of my career focusing on national security issues and protecting this country from terrorism. I served in some of the most challenging, demanding investigative and leadership roles in the FBI. And I was privileged to serve as Deputy Director during a particularly tough time.

For the last year and a half, my family and I have been the targets of an unrelenting assault on our reputation and my service to this country. Articles too numerous to count have leveled every sort of false, defamatory and degrading allegation against us. The President's tweets have amplified and exacerbated it all. He called for my firing. He called for me to be stripped of my pension after more than 20 years of service. And all along we have said nothing, never wanting to distract from the mission of the FBI by addressing the lies told and repeated about us.

No more.

The investigation by the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General (OIG) has to be understood in the context of the attacks on my credibility. The investigation flows from my attempt to explain the FBI's involvement and my supervision of investigations involving Hillary Clinton. I was being portrayed in the media over and over as a political partisan, accused of closing down investigations under political pressure. The FBI was portrayed as caving under that pressure, and making decisions for political rather than law enforcement purposes. Nothing was further from the truth. In fact, this entire investigation stems from my efforts, fully authorized under FBI rules, to set the record straight on behalf of the Bureau, and to make clear that we were continuing an investigation that people in DOJ opposed.

The OIG investigation has focused on information I chose to share with a reporter through my public affairs officer and a legal counselor. As Deputy Director, I was one of only a few people who had the authority to do that. It was not a secret, it took place over several days, and others, including the Director, were aware of the interaction with the reporter. It was the type of exchange with the media that the Deputy Director oversees several times per week. In fact, it was the same type of work that I continued to do under Director Wray, at his request. The investigation subsequently focused on who I talked to, when I talked to them, and so forth. During these inquiries, I answered questions truthfully and as accurately as I could amidst the chaos that surrounded me. And when I thought my answers were misunderstood, I contacted investigators to correct them.

But looking at that in isolation completely misses the big picture. The big picture is a tale of what can happen when law enforcement is politicized, public servants are attacked, and people who are supposed to cherish and protect our institutions become instruments for damaging those institutions and people.

Here is the reality: I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took, and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey. The release of this report was accelerated only after my testimony to the House Intelligence Committee revealed that I would corroborate former Director Comey's accounts of his discussions with the President. The OIG's focus on me and this report became a part of an unprecedented effort by the Administration, driven by the President himself, to remove me from my position, destroy my reputation, and possibly strip me of a pension that I worked 21 years to earn. The accelerated release of the report, and the punitive actions taken in response, make sense only when viewed through this lens. Thursday's comments from the White House are just the latest example of this.
This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally. It is part of this Administration's ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel's work.

I have always prided myself on serving my country with distinction and integrity, and I always encouraged those around me to do the same. Just ask them. To have my career end in this way, and to be accused of lacking candor when at worst I was distracted in the midst of chaotic events, is incredibly disappointing and unfair. But it will not erase the important work I was privileged to be a part of, the results of which will in the end be revealed for the country to see.

I have unfailing faith in the men and women of the FBI and I am confident that their efforts to seek justice will not be deterred.

Comrade Trump took the petty route. Only because he is scared of what Mueller has discovered and is discovering and will use against him.

Trumpicantards begin to slow down their rejoice and start comforting each other for what is to come.

Well, at least Trump didn't use nerve gas to get rid of him. Trump will just strip you of your pension. It doesn't matter that you have served your country for decades. No pensions for you!

This is a strong signal to everyone who are not agreeing with Trump. Everyone will be scared now and lay low.

This isn't Nixon, this is the mafia. And the Republicans in the House and Senate are almost 100% behind Trump.

This is only going to escalate. Eventually there will be roundups of political enemies, and maybe even executions.

Right ... because this is normal. Presidents frequently run a smear campaign against the FBI and the entire intelligence community with the full backing of the congressional majority.

It happens all the time.

Is it also normal for the OIG to conclude that high ranking FBI officials should be fired?

"Comrade Trump fired FBI Deputy Director McCabe in a campaign of smears and lies."

Bull Shit.

I'm sure The President wanted him fired. So did I, but Trump had absolutely nothing to do with it. He did not have the legal authority to do it. Check out the OPR. They are the ones that recommended he be fired and very likely based on information not yet seen by the public.

I'll let you know what the OIG's report says when I read it. Pretty amazing that it came in just before he retired.

Nobody is bringing him down because the GOP controlled House will never impeach him.

It doesn't matter what he does.

Only an individual doing his/her patriotic duty can bring this mess to an early end.

"Amusing how murder and tumbleweed suddenly appreciate the value of private gun ownership."

First of all, I didn't mention a gun.

And I grew up in a house with enough guns flowing through it to concern most NRA members ... including at one point an M16.

I don't have a problem with gun ownership. I have a problem with gun nuttery.

Oh I'm sorry renzo,

I know you have a history of "hit and runs" thinking that you have made a point that is unable to be countered.

But your point about OIG, a position that is appointed by the president can be just as easily influenced to push an agenda the president warrants as well as pressuring them to remain "loyal." If you are incapable of deducing that what just transpired wasn't strictly personal and spiteful. Then you are just like hot rod, Trump's hand shoved up so far up your ass that you repeat the same retarded things as Trump.

We have nothing but speculations and no definitive answers as why this occured. Unless you believe the bullshit fox news spews.

i will concede it's POSSIBLE McCabe misled/lied to IG (seems to be about telling media something about Hillary foundation investigation or something)... however the details are not known to us (nor Fox News... nor Trump as his only info comes from Fox)

however the TOTAL misrepresentation by Trump & his propaganda team at Fox is BULLSHIT (about massive corruption, lying, etc by FBI, Justice Dept, etc)

there was ZERO demonstration of such in the bullshit Nunes memo, and most likely will be same here

It's not propaganda. Ignoring that the type of person that would blame a school shooting on the instrument would never be content with just background checks or raising the age to own a weapon, the fact that "gun control" in other countries generally means an almost-complete ban is proof enough that the NRA is correct.

"...even though we already have accepted restrictions"

Then why aren't you happy with those? It's almost as if once those restrictions were passed, gun control advocated simply moved on to advocating for new restrictions. And if those new ones get passed, they'll be calling for even further restrictions after that.

delude, the OIG is not a position.

Michael Horowitz (inspector general of the DOJ) was appointed by Obongo.

Robin Ashton (counsel of the OPR at the DOJ) was installed by Eric "My People" Holder.

They aren't Republicans. Their offices found evidence of misconduct and unethical behavior by McCabe. We'll see if McCabe is prosecuted and/or disbarred. After Sessions failed to go after James Clapper for perjury, the former may be unlikely.

".... forgo impartiality so he can remain "loyal" to the president?"

Whereas my point was the that those can change their views to appease only to continue to keep their positions based upon an megalomaniac President.

Delude, careful with resident pseudo-lawyer. If you don't agree with him, or point out his flawed logic you will fit in the club of "tranny," "gay," or whatever racial slur he can spout.

It isn't like he ever debated subjects on this forum. Either he doing the aforementioned of calling posters names, or he spends his time doxxing them.

But more to the point if you attempt to discuss anything with him he will retreat or not address points. Or post some sort of source that is supposedly the end all to the topic as he "drops the mic" feeling accomplished of his actions.

But watch this, delude.

Pseudo-lawyer, I perused the link and read the opinion of the author. He didn't really give any insight to McCabe. He established only speculative behavior he conducted and you are only reinforcing it with comment as:

"Their offices found evidence of misconduct and unethical behavior by McCabe. "

This is a wide ranging of issues used to find a technicality and more-so using it as the excuse to fire him on trivial measures. In fact, I am willing to bet that you could do that with any employee and/or positions if you wanted.

Take football for example, every play you could call a penalty because there is always a violation. Either the official uses their discretion, or completely missed it. However, if you conduct a replay you will always find one.

I am going to give my opinion that is more likely the scenario McCabe faced since he had a target on his back. And for the longest of time I am sure this information was held only to be utilized at the pinnacle moment to dismiss him.

Even with the alleged accusations, that are more speculative than anything, at this point in time. And even the point that the article you provided mentioned, especially about the testimony of Comey and how McCabe may have contradicted. I am going to venture to say he didn't, but you have to have a basis somewhere am I right? There is too much information omitted and no one what is sure to what McCabe actually did wrong.

Maybe pseudo-lawyer you could have some insight to this matter. You like to pretend you do just like you do as a lawyer. All ears!

Watch this delude, he won't say anything. Except being predictable.

I expect alot of things are going to "accidentally" find themselves over to the special counsels office.

Nothing is more vidinctive then an irate bureaucracy. That retirement pension is the holy grail, the thing that is dangled in front of them while they put up with doing menial scut work for far less then what they could earn in the private sector. The kind of job that is perfect for very intelligent people with not too big aspirations.

Rip that away though and there can be hell to pay. Because in government, no document is "menial" per se. And I love how idiots refer to these people as "the deep state", as if the professional bureaucracy was some sort of closely held secret. Its really not. Its just never been targeted so directly in this manner before.

I can give you lessons about "deep state." Honestly those I work with use this phrasing and I have to chuckle each time they do.

Anyways, this was preposterous as to what happened to McCabe, and the president's behavior is very unbecoming.
