The oldest gun manufacturer in the US, Remington Outdoor, has filed for bankruptcy in the wake of slumping sales.

What does this mean for America? Why are you not buying guns?

The reason Remington is filling for bankruptcy is because they failed to fix an ongoing problem with some of their 'Bolt Action' rifles. Apparently some of them were firing without the trigger being pulled.

Of course the gun nutters are using this to say their sales are down because of the school shootings.

Yeah you libs have lots solutions for rocks, don't you?

I like the latest solution you have for a pressing need.

Puting a box of river rocks in every classroom so if a shooter comes in with a gun to kill the kids they can throw rocks at him.

Uh huh. Like pushing the agenda of they should learn CPR instead.

Look the district youre referring is rural and most likely conservative. Maybe you should check that one as a conservative concept.

If it was manufactured after 1961 did you have the trigger replaced per the recall?

"Guess its a piece of history now. "

Was it not before, just because of the name.

It is a combination of factors as to why they are going out of business. Faulty guns isn't the primary.

"The firm, founded more than 200 years ago, filed for bankruptcy protection to cut a deal with its creditors."

They are not going under. This is just a debt restructuring.

"The restructuring plan the firm announced is set to wipe out much of the company's debt burden - and meanwhile the firm, under new owners, is to continue operating. Remington's Chapter 11 filing is unlikely to be the end of the story."

HR, a BK is more or less the definition of 'going under.'

You will note that you can still get Hostess Twinkies at the corner store, yes? That doesn't mean the original Hostess never went under.

I heard that Twinkies was sold to another company. Not sure because I don't buy them. I have noticed that Hostess cupcakes are back on shelves. I bought a box a while back to see if they were different and they tasted the same.

I thought Cha[ter 11 was a way to restructure debt without giving up ownership.

I heard the Twinkies were bought by a different company, but I notice other Hostess products are on the shelves now. I even bought a box of the cupcakes to check them out and noticed no difference.

I guess you are saying a 'bankruptcy'.

I thought Chapter 11 was for restructuring.

If your income is so low that you can't even make your monthly minimum debt service & credit card payments, much less invest in yourself and/or what you have to offer to the market, and you need to seek special government protection from these creditors coming after you, we commonly call that 'going under.' This applies if you are a person, a company, or a non-profit.

If you are trying to paint lipstick on a pig, you could call it "restructuring," but it's the same thing. IE: "It's not that I got evicted, got my car repo'd, my wife left me, and I'm considering suicide.... I'm 'restructuring,' you see!"

Chapter 11, Title 11, United States Code

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chapter 11 is a chapter of Title 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code, which permits reorganization under the bankruptcy laws of the United States. Chapter 11 bankruptcy is available to every business, whether organized as a corporation, partnership or sole proprietorship, and to individuals, although it is most prominently used by corporate entities.[1] In contrast, Chapter 7 governs the process of a liquidation bankruptcy (although liquidation can go under this chapter), while Chapter 13 provides a reorganization process for the majority of private individuals.
