1) The Great Wall required an enormous amount of manpower and resources to staff and maintain, because a wall in itself doesn't actually keep anybody out

2) The Great Wall didn't actually keep the foreigners out

Neither does our wall keep them out.

But with the border guards and tech surveillance, we will keep out most of the drugs and the unwanted illegals.

Whatever happened to the temporary passes for the Mexicans that came here to work on a temporary pass before Caesar Chavez "organized" them?

We could accomplish the same thing with increased border guards and tech surveillance. A wall is meaningless, an expensive thing meant to impress fools, advocated by the fool in chief.

Also, most of the "unwanted illegals" are overstaying visas, not sneaking across the border.

But they are sneaking across the border too.

Ask Israel and the East Germans if walls are effective or not.

Increased border guards and tech surveillance would not be cost effective in the long run. 2000 miles is a long way.

"We could accomplish the same thing with increased border guards and tech surveillance."

Liberls would never allow us to deploy armed and autonomous shooting drones, so we better build that wall.

Still doesn't answer how you can keep that tricky 20th century device from crossing the border. You remember that one don't you Hot Rod? Couple of brothers from Ohio are credited with flying for the first time in one. I think their name was Wright.

Not to forget that other tricky device that has been around for thousands and thousands of years. Noah built one back when Moby Dick was a minnow. That's right you can't build a wall in the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.

Has Mexico finalized how they are going to pay for this wall?

I have been thinking how similar Bush and the Twitterman are in that they both pushed through huge tax cuts and then promptly want to spend countless tax payer dollars on futile efforts. Bush on 2 unfunded wars and now the Twitterman on an idiotic wall.

True, many illegals arrived by air and overstayed their visa. Thay will be taken care of by more stringent vetting on those entering the country that way.

As for coming here by water don't you think that beefing up the border guards oud include The Coast Guard?

Now, why don't you give some thought to the lottery system where one lucky fellow draws a number that not only allows him to enter our country along with every relation they can dig up, pun intended. They can bring with them every aunt, uncle, nephew, niece, cousins, and MS-13 or whatever the name of that gang is.

And there is another system that allows people to come en masse that I can't think of.

Those are very dangerous policies that Trump wants to get rid of but the demonrats won't let him.

The cost of the wall is negligible next to what the advantages it will bring,

Yesterday the Air National Guard spotted some drug dealers crossing the Rio Grande and they were caught with several hundred pounds of drugs coming in.

This is spectacularly untrue. It's immediate family.

Yet the majority of drugs that enter the country are from ports and not the border.

But hey, we know hot rod conveniently ignores facts.

While delude is correct. And hot rod appears to ingores or forgets, or repeats the rhetoric coming from the Trump administration. And having the experience of conducting investigations, interdiction stops, and studying the drug flow during part of my career.

The public, connecting to some politicians that neglect to do any research or rely upon some of their staffers to do it because they are dumb. I'm just being blunt.

Much of the drugs come through port of entries and not just the "open borders."

As for MS-13, SuR-13, or you using that as an argument completely shows how ignorant you are in regards of them. The gangs are established, they do not merely come as attachment. In fact they are not affiliated with any gangs until they fall to recruitment measures. And this isn't exclusive to latino gangs.

And a significant percentage of drugs that are pushed into communities, especially rural south are done by local gangs and as well as biker gangs. And white supremacists gangs.

The wall concept is a blunder and wasted resources. The better utilization of it would be focusing on technologies and equipment.

You're buying too much of the base rhetoric and you should really look at things objectively.

I'll be curious to see who bought stock in the winning contractors to build the wall. Let's see how well they hide their tracks.

there better be a wall on the mountains... mexican immigrants are like professional mountain climbers

"These are like professional mountain climbers—they're incredible climbers. They can't climb some of these walls. Some of them, they can. Those are the walls we're not using."

While the wall is a waste of money, let's not pretend that the people screeching about it are actually fiscal hawks, or that this represents a huge portion of wasteful spending.

Fiscal hawks are an endangered species.
