This year he decided why break a good thing. It isn't a celebration of the first amendment and probably never was. Now it is just a party that allows White House correspondents to hang out with a few celebrities for a couple of hours. Might as well just be a dinner and a roast. It is just a chance to get drunk and see if you can score an intern for press and politicians alike.
