We test these expectations with original data from two nationally representative samples that allow us to identify the American public’s attributional patterns across 18 diverse traits. Key findings are (1) genetic attributions are actually more likely to be made by liberals, not conservatives; (2) genetic attributions are associated with higher, not lower, levels of tolerance of vulnerable individuals; and (3) genetic attributions do not correlate with unseemly racial attitudes. ----------------- Once you accept evolutionary theory and that it applies to human behavior. That you do not choose your genes and that "free will" is an illusion. From there it is pretty straight path to increased tolerance towards others. There are the odd cases of eugenics, but hey! Yes, it's a pretty real correlation. We've literally known about this forever. We had an entire world war because of it. I don’t understand you post and how it relates to the study, that people like me, advocates of evolutionary psychology and behavioral genetics, are likely to be liberals and tolerant towards others.

Nimatzo iChihuaha	Tue May 15 09:21:26 Rugian I explain it fairly shortly from my perspective at the end of the OP. You did not pick your genes, wether they are a boon or a curse. You did not pick your parent and you did not pick you geographic location to be born in. And thus you did not have a hand or say in all the things that are central to the person you are today. The free will part is a bigger topic but it ties in to all the things above. You didn’t pick your genes, parent or your country (environment/culture), how much free will is left after that? The type of ”libertarian free will” most certainly do not exist. So life, if not deterministic, is probabalistic. You will probably do better if your are born in the USA and probably not in the Congo. You will probably do better if you have high IQ rather than low. If your parents are idiots... There is no aspect (I have read about) of our behavior that is not in part determined by our genes, choice of education, your psychological profile and IQ. The rest is the environment (physical and cultural). I can only feel pity for those that _lost_ the lottery, to the extent that they lack the will and fortitude to change the probabilities handed to them. I can only conclude that those people need help, not lulz and ridicule.

Very complicated issue, without a doubt an evolutionary sound rational to exterminate people and take their stuff. Rugian Though we should be careful in saying what causes (you wrote ”results”) the other. There are still people who think eugenics is a valid option. Their understanding of genetics could likely be in line with the science. And there are liberals eho accept evolution up until the human neck. So other factors confound.
