“If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up,” according to the pamphlet that will be distributed during the May 28-June 3 Emergency Preparedness Week.

Why do they print/distribute this in english, and on the internet of all places? Now the enemy can read what we will do when they attack us.

Someone needs to resign for this.

A new general election should be called over the outrage!

===============

The moral to take away from the handbook is that urbanites are completely screwed in the event of a break down in civic services.

Solution?

Bush the even younger had the right idea. An off-grid cabin within reach is probably a good idea. It could take up to a decade for normalcy to return. A nice garden plot and firewood stove can take a lot of the sting out of the experience.

If someone attacks you The United States will come to your rescue. But if you have drafted enough grunts you may not even need us.

Why would the US come to Sweden’s rescue? Sweden is not in Nato.

Who would want to attack Sweden in the first place? The only I can think of is maybe Denmark. But we have never hurted a fly.

HR
A US rescue does not entail things like reliable electricity or clean water access.

So a nice cabin with a kitchen garden and a wood stove until services return to normal, perhaps in less time than a decade.

All hr is saying that you can build a wall and the US will pay for it.

Sweden builds bridges. Sweden and Denmark built a bridge together.

HR said nothing about bridges. Though burning them would be in line with current us policy.

Sorry, I thought you guys were in NATO.

Since you aren't, you are on your own.

Good luck.

BS, you supplied coal to the NAZI's during the war.

”Since you aren't, you are on your own.
Good luck.”

Thanks! Not being a member of NATO has kept us out of war. As soon as we become a member we will have to go to war and also risk being bombarded, invaded and hurted.

”you supplied coal to the NAZI's during the war”

Iron ore, not coal. Sweden was neutral, so we basically traded with everyone. We are true capitalists.

Swedish men let barbarians rape their women and then apologize for not understanding the barbarian culture. You are a weak, fangless culture.

What was it you traded with The United States? I forget.

BTW, iron ore is even worse than coal.

Chances are you did not trade anything with The United States. Especially during the period that the Germans held Norway.

Not impossible, just not likely.

Swedish overseas trade during World War II

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en....seas_trade_during_World_War_II

From the German capture of Denmark and Norway, the Swedish overseas trade during World War II was mainly blocked by the battle of the Atlantic, but Swedish diplomats convinced Germany and the United Kingdom to let through a few vessels, mainly to the United States until their entrance into the war, and neutral countries in Latin America. These transports, called lejdtrafiken, "the safe conduct traffic", were monitored by both powers, and ten of them were sunk during the war. Sweden mainly imported petroleum products and agricultural produce, and exported wood products. Overall, petrol imports to Sweden greatly decreased, and substitute fuels were found.[1]

Sweden traded considerable goods with Germany during the war, particularly iron, iron products, ball bearings, and trucks. Sweden attempted to purchase planes from the USA, but these were prohibited by the US government in 1940. Sweden bought 200 planes from Italy instead. As the war progressed, strategic products such as rubber and metals were prohibited.[2]

Some trade was also done using blockade runners like HMS Gay Viking. Import from Sweden to the United Kingdom was organised in several operations such as Operation Rubble, Operation Performance (March 1942) and Operation Bridford (October 1943 to March 1944).[3] Historian Christian Leitz says that Sweden violated their neutrality by offering the United Kingdom ballpoint bearings at a discount. In 1938 SKF only charged the UK 74% of what they chaged Germany and in 1943 only 68%,[4][5][page needed][6] whereas historian Eric Bernard Golson says that neutral powers such as Sweden maintained their neutrality and independence by offering economic concessions to the wartime powers to make up for their relative military weakness.[7]

I guess the HMS Gay Viking was good at penetrating blockades.
