The first official details on the other potential “Game of Thrones” shows have emerged.

HBO has given a pilot order to a prequel series from writer Jane Goldman, one of five “Game of Thrones” projects that has been in the works.

Taking place thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Goldman’s series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend–it’s not the story we think we know.

Goldman co-created the project with George R.R. Martin, whose “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series serves as the basis for “Game of Thrones.” Goldman and Martin wrote the story, with Goldman writing the teleplay. She will also serve as showrunner. She and Martin will executive produce along with Daniel Zelman and “Game of Thrones” executive producer Vince Gerardis.

Goldman is a British screenwriter and producer. Her past screenwriting credits include “Stardust,” “Kick Ass,” “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” She is also attached to write the live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” and “Kingsman 3.” Goldman is also the author of several best-selling non-fiction books, and is a co-creator of the annual comedy special “The Big Fat Quiz of the Year” for the UK’s Channel 4.

She is repped by WME in the United States and Independent Talent Group in the United Kingdom.

Other than Goldman, the other writers working on potential “Game of Thrones” spinoffs are: Max Borenstein, Brian Helgeland, Carly Wray, and Bryan Cogman.

The exact nature of the plot of each project has been kept under tight wraps, though Martin has previously made clear that each project is a prequel rather than a spinoff and that none of the current main cast of the series will be involved. He has also ruled out fan theories that any of them will focus on his characters Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon the Unlikely, or Dunk and Egg as they are popularly known. He has also said that Robert’s Rebellion will not be the subject of any of the prequels.

News of the pilot order comes as fans are eagerly awaiting the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones,” which is expected to launch in summer 2019. The series is not only HBO’s most-watched original by a wide margin, but one of the most-watched shows on all of television. Season 7 of the series broke multiple ratings records for the network last year.

The last season sucked. Once they went off George R. Martn's books, the show delved. IMO it became good but not must watch after season 3 (before which it was really great) just

like the books. And then it went off the books and became bad. I don't know if they can get the magic back. Look at Star Wars. It's a long slide into suckdom.

There just aren't enough good writers out there.

"Look at Star Wars"

Such a derp fest. I would like to take this opportunity and the recent release of Solo to air several complaints about TLJ:

- that Rey became a total Mary Sue (after two weeks I can do all Force things better than anyone ever could)
- that they dicked over Mark Hamill
- that space fuel was a dumb contrivance
- that the hangar fight with Phasma in front of all the green screen explosions could literally have been taken from any Marvel movie (not Star Wars)
- that the casino planet subplot was just plain bad

and about a dozen other completely textual grievances as well.

But because the movie was made with an Important Agenda (e.g. Rose's character, Holdo v Poe, animal rights, blah blah blah), my complaints that a shoddy movie written by an interloping turd of a director was fucking up Star Wars were dismissed as being reactionary and racism(!?).

Liberals are on the right side of history vis-a-vis Trump and the doormat Rs in the House and Senate but there is a totally obnoxious, idiotic wing of the party that is so quick to try to burn down anyone with dissenting opinions on anything. Russia certainly tried to influence the election but I guarantee you that more of those "80000 votes in three states" that elected Trump were cast because of the sort of people strenuously arguing that not liking a bad movie that is inclusive === racism than were caused by Facebook ads bought by Russians.

"There just aren't enough good writers out there."

I'd like to think that there are plenty of good writers, but because they don't metaphorically (or literally...) polish knobs of the purse strings, we keep getting shit on.

Everyone hated TLJ. Stop making it about politics. So tired of retards on the right making everything political. The reason TLJ sucked was because of basic film-making and directing and story issues.

Not because of Social Justice warriors forcing brown people or women or homosexuals to get equal screentime.

Get over yourselves.

^ legitimately unintelligent.

The politics shoved into TLJ was both bad and waaaay too over the top. OG star wars had plenty of politics involved, but it was more subtle about it. Hollywood these days thinks that if you aren't bludgeoning people over the head, they won't ever possibly get it.

Exactly. Very few people care about Finn and Rose's skin color. They might care that the two characters are total fuckwads that got the rebel alliance massacred because of their selfish desire for glory though.

The whole Ray falling instantly in love with Kylo Ren's chest and abs was pretty humurous though.

^^ Legitimately retarded with a big chip on his shoulder.

None of the grapevine other than the cuckservative mediasphere complained about the politics.

It was a bad story by a bad director that made TLJ bad. Politics is so far down on the list of why TLJ was bad. You have spent too much time on this forum if you think it was the main reason why the movie was a shit show in every way.

Cuckhat pretends that the right-wing whining about TLJ wasn't massively dwarfed by virtue signaling leftist articles deriding it. A cursory google search reveals hundreds of examples of this.

The movie was deified by critics, and the media circled the wagons.

Perhaps you think our memory is as short-term as you, and that everyone forgets the dialogue that occurred just six months ago.

Brain dead forwyn chimes in with the cuckservative media narrative. No wonder he still makes well under 6 figures despite being a working college graduate for over a decade. Maybe shut the fuck up and stop fitting things into your myopic ayn rand world view and focus on getting better habits and developing more mental models like Charlie Munger.

But whatever tlj sucked because of sjw becuase you spent hours reading about it in places nobody successful ever looks at. Congrats on your superior knowledge of what incels believe dumbass.
