Oh boy seb nekran and wtb are not going to like this.

Being rich and successful really IS in your DNA: Being dealt the right genes determines whether you get on in life

Scientists have found social mobility is partially written into our genes, which can make us high-flyers or high-earners.

A study of more than 20,000 people in the UK, US and New Zealand found those with certain genetic variations earned more money, had better careers and got further in education.

Regardless of which class they came from, their genes could help them do better in life than their parents before them.

"The authors say our genes explain only roughly four per cent of differences in social mobility."

^ Should have probably been included in OP for context.

I thought this was already a given back when we decided sociopaths could be a benefit?

Sam, why would I mot like this? It conforms exactly what I've been saying. Geese play a very small role in life outcomes compared to other factors.

In this case it would appear not genetic factors are about 20 times more important.

Also, genes associate with better performance in education doesnt necesarily mean the filter isn't education. As education drives social mobility, it's not surprising educational performance is correlated with professional success.

Better grades > better university > better job.

What's not to like? My long held view that you get your science from sources like the daily mail is absolutely confirmed.

Apart from that none of us have ever objected to the influence of genetics afaik. It is your insane conclusions, we tend to object to. Can you even explain why you think we would dislike this? What do you conclude from this study that you think we wouldn't like?

Having checked out the actual study, I am surprised you take a study that has so many "fuzzy studies" contributors seriously. But of course we have long since known that you care not about source (hence posting a daily mail article on science), as long as you think it agrees with your pre-determined views.

It's not a very interesting study to me (nothing grand was revealed here, if you read more than the daily mail headline), but any information that could in the future lead to improvements in education is useful.
