Bongino on Chicago Gun Violence: 'It's Time to Let Cops Be Cops'

Former NYPD officer Dan Bongino suggested the possibility of new leadership in Chicago after at least 60 people were shot in the Windy City over the weekend.

Ten of those shooting victims died, and police said that some of the shootings were gang-related.

"I'm not suggesting that Democrats or Republicans have all the answers here," Bongino said. "But maybe it's time for new people. You deserve better."

More than 1,600 people have been shot in Chicago this year, including three children who were recently wounded while playing basketball. Residents said after the shooting that the situation is so bad, children are being kept indoors for their safety.

The bloody weekend comes after the city's police department reported a 10 percent drop in shootings and murders last month.

Demonstrators took to the streets of Chicago last week to call for Democratic Mayor Rahm Emanuel's resignation, blasting his administration for failing to curb the city's gun violence epidemic.

Bongino said Monday that the shootings represent a "stain" on America and that "it's time to let the cops be cops."

"Those people there deserve better. These are American citizens living in a place with zero opportunity, where you could walk out of your house and be killed," he said.

Time for new leadership in Chicago from the top in Chicago's law enforcement and the mayor's office.

I heard on the news that Emanuel hired a new police chief that had been fired from another city for inefficiency.

To show you how stupid, or kowtowing, that Chicago's mayor is.

There is a park near the ritzy area of Chicago's well to do that was donated a long time ago on the condition that nothing be built on it.

So "along came Jones". I mean Obama, and he does not want his Presidential Library built in the poor region of Chicago where it might be a role influence to the poor kids of Chicago.

No. He wants it built in that exclusive, no build park. And it looks like the will let him do it.

The City Government seems incapable of making the simplest common sense decision like this one.

Thanks, but they already have enough street gangs.

And this isn't a policing problem. This is a legislative problem. We have laws that make being a member of a criminal organization cost free.

In the same way that every participant in a crime is responsible if one member of the crew kills someone ... every member of a criminal organization should be equally culpable for every murder committed by that criminal organization.

Gangs should be indicted and prosecuted as criminal organizations, and then every member should be held responsible.

The problem will clear up in no time.

I remember his hosting the Rev. Al Sharpton and others to The White House. My guess is they were planning strategy on how to stir up the African-American community to cause trouble. It wasn't too long before Black Lives Matter showed up.

I need to go back to bed. I stayed up late last night because I watched a dumb movie I wanted to see and I only got four hours of sleep and I have not stopped posting since 5:00 AM. that is 8 full hours.
