Catholic priests.

So maybe this whole celibacy thing isn’t a good idea? But then I think, the more fundamentalist you are as a catholic the less likely you are to procreate, almost zero. Priests and munks do not have children. Such barriers do not exist in the Islamic clregy. As we all know, religious people are fruitful and spread their religious nutbag gene to 4 of their 8 children. Meanwhile christian fundamentalism self destructed. I am willing to bet money it helped facilitate the path to self destruction for Chrsitian fundamentalism and militarism.

Yes, last I checked that catholic priests and monks of Mexico are also celibate. The idea I am arguing for is that if someone feels like ”serving the lord” in catholicism, they also give up having children. Now whether you believe it is genetic, parenting or both, such a limitation would effect the pool of ready and able bodied zealots since the church didn’t let priests have kids to pass on their genes and/or teachings to. This isn’t the case in Islam, mullahs have many children.

You are assuming that the Catholic church isn't encouraging their members to have as many children as possible. Plus you are assuming that the only children capable of learning their religion are the son's of the clergy.

Now Catholics are a male dominated religion but they don't exactly ignore the capability of women. Witness the number of Nuns who are teachers Nurses and Doctors.

Where as it seems that Islam, or so it is being portrayed. Only see women as a means to have more children. Aren't all that keen on them being anything more than possessions to be used to show off your supposed manliness. Your extreme fundamentalist factions are all too eager to kill them for what may or may not be the slightest infraction.

But I really shouldn't be opining about any of the worlds religions as I believe too many have been corrupted by power and greed.

What you and I are saying are not mutually exclusive patom. Ordinary catholics have many children, but the group of catholics who are so pious to serve only the lord, they don’t. It is that special group of the pious (in any religion) I am talking about.

There was a time when all religions encouraged their members to have as many children as possible. Of course back in those days it was a practical edict. The infant mortality rate was high and mechanization hadn't reared its ugly head.
When much of the world was an agricultural society it was easier to feed many mouths. People grew their own food or had easy access to fresh food. The clergy were usually the only people in many communities who could read or write and probably passed that on to their children. They were needed by the illiterate flock to interpret important documents of the day.

Yes I don’t disagree with anything of consequence in what you just said. I only add that there is a pull effect. People are, for whatever reason, drawn to certain activities. People who want to devote their lives to their religion as a priest or monk/nun are interesting in this regard because behavior and temperament are handed down from parent to child. And further because religious people are fruitful. I differentiate between ordinary believers and those devoted.

If you look at the world, a small group of ”devoted” people can cause a lot of damage with utter disregard for the value of life in this world. If you look back in history, there was actually a time when the Pope and the church tried to dominate and create some sort of empire. Didn’t go as planned for many reasons and I wonder if that vision wasn’t hampered because the clergy maintaining the church didn’t have any children to pass their crazy genes and teachings to.

The silver lining is that the catholic church could have been much worse.

I would hope that as the world becomes more literate and has more access to information, that the populace will be less susceptible to the influence of radical religious leaders.

People all over the world have a desire to learn and when they explore different avenues of thought and can dig out the discrepancies of what they were taught, they will not be led down the path to destruction as easily.
