There are more parties than just Democrats and Republicans. The USA would be much better off if more Americans realized this.

The boisterous, soft, angsty section of the liberal faction in the USA is just as damaging to their party as the boisterous, angry, angsty section of the conservative faction is to theirs.

"What in particular do you like about a 1 party dictatorship HR"

We won't be a 1 party government if the Democrats got their head out of their ass and realize you can't win elections with just the minority vote. Its the minority vote for fucks sake. You can't claim that the majority population is the source of all evil, ignore 3/4's of the member States of a Federal Union because they are "culturally backwards" and expect to be in power.

@Aeros - They literally never talk about identity politics and they are kind of forced to support the #metoo movement since it's shown enough truth to be credible. Nobody told Kavanaugh to assault Blasey Ford or Ramirez.

http://www...s-pre-existing-conditions.html

The number 1 thing dems are running on is healthcare followed by other pocketbook issues. Your vote is your right, but if you think voting for a white supremacist means anything; you should probably take some time off the internet.

pretty pathetic that a sexual assault allegation was really only relevant to affecting ~4 senators

An allegation by a democrat that helps democrats revealed by other democrats at the last minute.

Gee why would so many people ignore that i wonder?

they supposedly believe the attack happened, she lived in the area, she knew people in his circle, he seemed to indicate knowing her friend

they sure got lucky finding someone to fit all that who was willing to lie convincingly under oath to the world without cracking if it was all fake (& a husband to lie too, as he said she named him years prior)

---
it seems of the ~4 that it could've potentially affected, perhaps did so for 2... Heitcamp & Murkowski probably would've gone 'yes'

And if we had a competent president; we would've had an immediate full FBI investigation (like both Ford and Ramirez were asking) in order to confirm how credible they were. An FBI investigation that, for some reason, Kavanaugh himself did not want to clear his name.

Instead, the Republicans held a shitty hearing where it would automatically be he-said, she-said. Even their sham follow-up FBI investigation only interviewed like 9 people and was seriously constrained by Trump since it was at the behest of the white house.

It was like the fucking run-up to the Iraq War all over again where Republicans play on people's initial prejudices instead of trying to get to the fucking facts.

And of course Sam falls for it all over again.

Ford sent the letter with the wish to be annonymous BEFORE Kavanaugh had been nominated. The reason it was released later was because Feinstein attempted to respect Ford's request to be annonymous.

And the reason it became such a sham investigation is because the Republicans probably talked to Kavanaugh, Kavanaugh said an FBI investigation would likely find out he was a huge frat boy drunk in high school and college at the minimum, and they decided to try to rush through the nomination.

The invitation for Ford to testify was a huge bluff (and they ignored Ramirez who only came out with allegations days later). They wanted her to say she couldn't come so they could call it fake news and confirm Kavanaugh. Blasey Ford called their bluff.

And here we are today with Republicans trying to ruin our Supreme Court by appointing a partisan when there are literally dozens of equally qualified far-right extremists they could nominate that don't have credible accusations of sexual assault.

body language analysis of Ford during her testimony.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGxr1VQ2dPI

Dukhat there was a full investigation. The FBI sends their findings to the president and the Senate. She testified under oath in front of many senators so they already had her statements related to the case. No need to repeat.

Also turns out President Trump gave the FBI authority to question anyone the Senate committee determined needed questioned.

And if Feinstein actually believed Ford she would have submitted the letter to the FBI the day she got it.
Ford said in answer to one question she didn't know how to contact the FBI. That is bullshit. You google FBI and the phone numbers are right there on the site. The number Ford should have called is (202) 324-3000.

Who says it's last minute? The Republicans? There's no typical timeline to confirm a justice. They just wanted to confirm the asshole before the midterms because there is a small chance Republicans could lose the senate.

An interview for a lifetime appointment should be careful and thorough. Saying that an extra week or two for a real investigation is too much time is a fucking joke. Kavanaugh will be on the bench for probably 30+ years if confirmed.

Collins cited the 'presumed innocent' and 'more likely than not' things which are court standards

not sure that sits right over just evaluating a job candidate... he faced no prison or fines

she also cited no one coming forward to say they drove Ford home, or other nonsense that there'd be no reason to expect anyone to remember

and Collins brought up the 'all 4 witnesses couldn't corroborate' shit that Kavanaugh pulled (only he lied & said they denied it happened)... well 2 would have no reason to remember, and 1 was drunken Kavanaugh himself... that's not a 'witness' (& the 4th was a drunken accomplice)

"Trump supporters - The fight isn’t over. You better believe that Democrats are going to do everything in their power to impeach Kavanuagh from the Supreme Court if they take control of Congress in November. This is war. Time to fight.

Vote on Nov 6 to protect the Supreme Court!"

somehow i doubt they will do anything at all to impeach Kavanaugh, requires 2/3rd of Senate just like for President

Murkowski is explaining herself now (against Kav)

citing Rule 1.2
"A judge shall act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the independence, integrity, and impartiality of the judiciary, and shall avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety."

bam!

the judge apologized for being a partisan rage monster, but his initial statement was written in advance, not 'heat of the moment' emotion at any accusations

If I am, the many long discussions Jergul and I had in the past would be somewhat disturbing.

Also the semicolon usage is for when either half of a sentence already has a comma. Do you even grammar bro?

"this isn't helping your case..."

Helped it perfectly. You wanna lay blame lay it where it belongs...with the Senate.

Rule 1.2 also says impropriety is left purposely general. Getting mad because you are being accused of multiple gang rapes because a person remembers you were at a party that a gang rape may or may not have taken place to most would fall under the category of acceptable behavior. In fact to calmly just set there and take it would be seen as abnormal.

I heard that Feinstein showed the letter to Schumer. I'm not sure if it is true or not but someone mentioned it a few days ago.

I would be more willing to believe Feinstein's claim that she did not leak the letter if so.

If the demonrats can weaponize the FBI they can probably do the same with SCOTUS.

There has certainly been a lot of 5 - 4 decisions lately.

tumbleweed

Fri Oct 05 22:56:37
there's actually been no proof of the FBI doing anything corruptly against Trump (fact)

and SCOTUS is now definitively conservative-leaning even though Republicans have only won the popular vote once since 1988 (30 years)
kargen

Fri Oct 05 23:23:06
Popular vote matters like rushing yards matter. And just gotta throw this in. There is much more evidence flimsy as it may be pointing towards the FBI being corrupt than what Ford and others were able to produce.

If Feinstein did show the letter to Schumer without Ford knowing wouldn't that still be her leaking the letter? We know for damn sure it wasn't shown ahead of time to any Republican so someone on the Democrats side did it.

But since we are doing that:

I incorrectly generalized a use of semicolons in English titles.

I thereafter found it amusing to encourage others to invest as much time as possible into semicolon usage.

I was hoping for more than a single thread on that, so feel free to take the cue and carry that discussion forward.

At this point, it is as bad to have him confirmed as it is not to. On the one hand he seems like the kind of douch you wouldn’t want in the SC, on the other hand, this isn’t a pathway you want open where people can veto a nomination just by accusing people, it will be abused, in both direction.
