In the 8 years I worked at a jail in Maine, I can recall only 2 inmates ask to get absentee ballots. It seemed to me that most inmates that I met were only interested in themselves. The rate might have been a little higher in the State Prisons but I doubt if it was much higher. Now Florida could be different in that they seemed to have a penchant for saddling minorities with felonies and using that as a means of voter suppression.

Desantis also gets to nominate 3 supreme court justices meaning the 5-2 majority that declared their congressional map unconstitutional a few years ago gets flipped. So a state that usually only splits its vote between the 2 parties by at most a few percent ends up with massive super majorities. Minority rule at its best.

The "need felons" would probably generally mirror the rest of the population ... most white felons voting GOP ... most colored felons voting Dem. IF they bother to vote. I propose that most black "need felons" won't vote because they believe that the game is rigged. And when it comes to hardcore criminals, they wouldn't vote, and likely wouldn't get the chance to as they will likely be locked up again before the next election rolls around. Out of the 1.2 million felons who regained their right to vote, I figure the Dems may gain ~ +100,000 or so votes. But again, I'm just talking out of my ass here. :o)

" I'm guessing white collar criminals are vastly outnumbered by blue collar. The question isn't who will get votes out of this - both parties will, clearly - the question is who will get more, in the context of a traditionally razor thin purple state.
