World war one ended. 16 million people dead.

For anyone interested I strongly recommend the Dan Carlin Hardcore history podcast series "Blue print for Armageddon", it's still free on iTunes.

I wonder, when will we start gushing over and forgiving the Nazis themselves? It seems like the natural progression as we run out of Nazi collaborators to forgive.

'Trump is gushing over KFC folk.'

(FIXED)

He gave money to Democrats because his business is in New York. It's called greasing the palm.

"Devil Dog is a motivational nickname for a U.S. Marine. It is said by US Marines to be based on the use of "Teufel Hunde" [sic][idiomatic German: "Höllenhunde", which exactly means "hells dogs"] by German soldiers to describe Marines fighting in World War I."

The Germans always felt safe moving around the trenches and looking up over the top.

When the US Marines arrived they found out it was no longer safe to stick their heads up.

It took a while but they soon learned that each and every US Marine qualify on the shooting range each and every year.

It was a good war. So many white people died. Think about how many Trump and Le Pen and Brexit supporters they sired had they lived.

Lol we broke cuckhat.

Anyway, back to the subject, i reccomend a book called castles of steel about the great battleships of england and germany. Jutland would have been so badass to watch.

"So many white people died."

"If looked at without breakdowns, the total Ottoman losses run almost as high as 25% of the population — approximately 5 million out of population of 21 million."

Dukhat is gradually making me see the wisdom behind extreme emergency protective orders.

And when time travel tourism is invented, Jutlands definitely on my list of events to go to.

As far as sea battles go, that was the last time two navies were so evenly matched, no? Nazi germany had no "navy", they had little assassin squadrons at sea, largely trying to (and failing to) avoid the RN. The Japanese navy was demolished at virtually every battle. And from then on, nothing even remotely close to that scale has happened again. I concur.

Coral Sea was the only time Japan was evenly matched.

Midway would probably be the only naval spanking worth watching. After that it was one-sided.

Yes, but also, the airplanes kinda ruined sea battles and the Pacific was the famous paradigm shit. Missiles launched from ships, from planes, taking off from ships. It sorta got out of hand, you could say.

Germany was moderatly outclassed at Jutland once Jellicoe showed up with the main line of royal navy battleships.

The US and Japan in the pacific had some epic fights too but they there distant carrier fights, beyond visual range.

Ya, by world war 2 the german surface fleet was pretty pathetic. The bismarck episode was interesting but that was a single ship...

Jutland was certainly the largest fight where ships could see eachother.

The RN put 37 modern battleships up against 21 for germany at Jutland. The main fleets only clashed for a few minutes before germany ran away but what a few minutes it was!

The lead elements of the german fleet said the entire horizon turned to fire and smoke, as they emerged from a fog bank and found the greatest concentration of firepower in history waiting for them.

Counting both BBs and BCs as the same, as they were similar displacement.

Imagine watching 33 battleships(3 british bcs were dead already and the mighty Warspite was suffering steering issues and unable to fire) all open up at once!
