Thousands forced to evacuate.

Hmmm! I wonder.

I doubt there is any chance of this, but I wonder if the plates have ever been forced to move because of a conflagration such as this,

A screwy idea just curious?

I just want to be clear on what you're suggesting... Forest fires may force lithospheric plates to move?

Just remember Hot Rod isn't very well educated.

Its not enough to heat the water table. Let alone impact on the plates (that as you recall are floating on magma).

ERR---

I am not a meteorologist. But I don't mind continuing my education.

What do you want to bet that I know things about America and her culture that you would not have the foggiest idea about?

BTW, I guess you missed this.

Hot Rod,

No, California is not in danger of falling into the ocean. Sorry to disappoint.

The tectonic plates of Earth float about on the global ocean of magma that is the mantle depth of the Earth.

Situations on the surface do not impact this system in any way.

We have been able to [accidentally] cause artificial earthquakes from fraking oil by pumping massive quantities of water into the ground where it does not naturally exist. But these are small shallow movements, not related to plate tectonics.

Think of it this way, if you stood on a deeply frozen river with ice a couple of feet thick and turned a hand held blow torch on and ran it over the surface where you were standing for a few seconds, would that cause a large segment of river ice to shift? No.

But if you could time lapse that same river over 2 months, you would see the ice slowly shifting/changing as moving water underneath morphed the ice on top.

"I am not a meteorologist. But I don't mind continuing my education."

Wtf does meteorology have to do with any of this? If you really want to continue your education, you might want to start with looking up with a meteorologist is.

"BTW, I guess you missed this. 'I doubt there is any chance of this...'"

What you asked is on the same level of idiocy as wondering if a bullet will travel around the Earth and hit you if you fire a gun toward the horizon. Even if you didn't think it was likely (which I doubt), the mere fact that you felt the need to even ask speaks volumes.

I knew meteorology was the wrong word. But I could not think of the word, _________.

I still can't even though the wife of the last Man Standing is one. I even knew one in San Francisco. He even had a small goldmine.

Geologist would be the umbrella category, but that will be divided up into geophysicists, structural geologists, etc.

That is the word.

Thanks.

I believe there is one other stupider than I.

I will let the members decide for themselves who that is.
