Comcast fires employee who is allegedly a 'Proud Boys' member
By Avery Anapol - 11/15/18

Comcast has reportedly fired a longtime employee after a viral petition alleging that he is a member of the rightwing group the “Proud Boys.”

Comcast told Philadelphia magazine that Andrew Kovalic, who worked as a communications technician with the company for a decade, was no longer working for them.

“There’s no place for disrespectful, offensive behavior in our culture,” the company said. “The individual is no longer employed by Comcast.”

More than 400 people signed a petition directed at Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, that described Kovalic as a “white supremacist.”

The petition linked to a Twitter thread from a leftwing activist that identified Kovalic as a “Harrisburg PA Proud Boys Rally Captain,” and noted that he is scheduled to work as “security” at a rightwing rally in Philadelphia later this month.

THREAD: The Proud Boys and other alt-light groups are rallying in Philadelphia on 11/17.

This is Andrew Kovalic, Harrisburg PA Proud Boys Rally Captain. He's doing Security that day.

The Twitter user included a photo of Kovalic, wearing his Comcast uniform, flashing a hand gesture that is associated with white supremacist movements.

The Harrisburg Proud Boys told Philadelphia magazine in an emailed statement: “We like beer. We still like beer. Have a Dick pic. Sincerely, The Greatest F—ing Fraternity in the History of Mankind.”

The magazine was not able to reach Kovalic for comment.

The Proud Boys have been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and members have been involved in a series of political clashes and have attended white supremacist rallies. The organization claims to not be a white nationalist group.

Last month, several people linked to the group were arrested in a street fight in New York. Several tech platforms, including Amazon and PayPal, have cut ties with the Proud Boys in recent weeks.

Comcast firing someone for disrespectful culture is absolutely fucking hilarious. From the company that changed people's names to swears, who routinely purposefully bill you incorrectly because they know some number of people will not notice... Yeah. Those guys.

This is Hitler firing Mussolini because of the PR backlash of gassing children.

The Proud Boys are most likely a hate group but Southern Poverty Law Center's hate group list is a fucking joke. BAMN and Antifa don't make the list but a church in Colorado Springs where the pastor goes on the radio and asks his congregation to pray for homosexuals so they might change is on the list. Pretty fucked up that groups with a central theme of violence and confrontation do not make the list but a group of people that gather for prayer do make the list.

The church groups that actually go out and about harassing gay people and telling them to repent or rot in hell, yeah those groups need to be watched. But just because some group offers up an opinion counter to the Southern Poverty Law Center's views doesn't mean they are a hate group.

BOSTON (CBS) – More than 20,000 Comcast customers in Massachusetts will get a refund or have their debt with the cable company canceled, Attorney General Maura Healey announced Tuesday.

Healey said in a statement that Comcast is settling a lawsuit that alleged the company “violated state consumer protection laws by using deceptive advertisements to promote its long-term cable contracts.”

Comcast allegedly left customers stuck in agreements they couldn’t afford, and didn’t properly disclose fees that raised bills 40 percent above the advertised price, according to Healey. When customers tried to cancel, they were charged early termination fees of up to $240.

“Here he is making a white power gesture in his Comcast uniform.”

I was going to say that making any sponsorship of another organization while in corporate attire is a job-death sentence in any corporation (not just Comcast), but, checking the photo, he’s doing an “OK” sign... so we’re back to saying that the “OK” sign is also a “White Power” shorthand.... so... all I know is my gut says, “Maybe.”

I knew (and inwardly sighed about it) that the WP sign would be "OK". Not terribly surprised to have it confirmed.

Yep. A less hitlery analogy:

This is Roose Bolton telling Ramsay to be more respectable, to represent their house with more honor, as he stands there, flaying some poor schmuck alive.
