No such thing. Also:

"In October 2016, one month before Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the U.S. presidential election, a document was released by WikiLeaks that showed the Clinton campaign's use of Haberman to place sympathetic stories in Politico. "[The Clinton campaign] has a very good relationship with Maggie Haberman of Politico over the last year. We have had her tee up stories for us before and have never been disappointed. While we should have a larger conversation in the near future about a broader strategy for reengaging the beat press that covers HRC, for this we think we can achieve our objective and do the most shaping by going to Maggie."[11]"

Gen. McChrystal recently called Trump dishonest & immmoral (factual assessment)

and

"If we want to be governed by someone we wouldn't do a business deal with because their — their background is so shady, if we're willing to do that, then that's in conflict with who I think we are. And so I think it's necessary at those times to take a stand."

McChrystal is a stupid motherfucker who ran his dumb mouth so badly that even Fox News found itself agreeing with Obama in saying "yeah he needs to go" (how does anyone even manage that). Since then he's become a shill for gun control while simultaneously working for a UAE-owned arms company. Oh, and he also wants to bring back the draft.

Donald Trump Jr. used Instagram Tuesday night to endorse his father's border wall policy, saying the evidence that a wall works is because they protect people from zoo animals.

"You know why you can enjoy a day at the zoo? Because walls work," Trump Jr., 41, wrote in his Instagram story.

find a person in the world who understands Trump's Syria policy

Bolton: 'we're staying til ISIS defeated & Turkey guarantees safety of the Kurds'

Erdogan: "Whacchu talkin' about, Walrus?"

clearly Trump sold out the Kurds when talking to Erdogan then recklessly announcing policy w/o talking to anyone... (granted he was probably unaware of everything, as usual)

Tw,

I realize this probably isn't the thread to discuss this, but can you think of ANY sort of withdrawal strategy that wouldn't end with the Kurds being completely screwed?

This was always one of the aspects of Obama's Syrian intervention that was completely nonsensical. We supported the Kurds in their fight against ISIS; at the same time though, Turkey was never going to approve of an independent or autonomous Kurdish presence along its border. "Selling out" the Kurds was basically an inevitability, absent major mission creep and burning Turkey as an ally.

It makes great sense to support the kurds based on three premises:

1. Defeating terrorists is important
2. Regime change is unimportant.
3. Direct support of the regime is impossible.

Kurds provide boots on the ground to defeat terrorists. Turkey provides leverage to force militarized kurds to submit to central Syrian control.

Failed State averted and terrorist scourge destroyed.

Win!?

The Kurds are not so much screwed as struggling with the consept of reunification with centralized government.

we learned in 2017 after a Putin meeting that Trump was trying to convince a NY Times reporter that Russia didn't interfere with off the record comments such as the 'they are so good, it couldn't be them as they wouldn't have gotten caught'

he started making that case publicly, but pretty fucking disgusting he was trying to get the Times to suggest it on their own so no link to him

almost proof he's a traitor if not for the fact that this lump of pure shit would happily sell-out the country to protect his own ego (he didn't want to acknowledge anyone helped him)

so he's either a Russian puppet or just puts himself above the country or both (the latter is definitely true imo, the former seeming to get only more likely over time)

all the way through the disaster in Helsinki he was casting doubt on our own intel agencies unanimous conclusions on Russian interference (using NO counter evidence beyond Putin's word)

& not like he's shown an ounce of concern over Russian interference now that he's pretending to accept it (which he did only after being universally rebuked including Fox News)

& that's just one of his string of always pro-Russia actions (yet solid proof on its own)

please provide reasonable rationale for Trump to try to anonymously plant news stories that Russia was innocent

didn't work with !NY Times but he also had Scaramucci say 'someone told me if Russia did it we'd never know' on CNN (which he revealed was Trump only after the stupidity of the 'someone' claim was mocked), plus I wouldn't be surprised if that theory was floated by Trump shills on Fox at the time

tumbleweed

Thu Jan 24 21:20:08
how is that a defense?

Trump tried to undermine faith in OUR intel agency conclusions by planting stories anonymously to suggest Russia innocent (solely from Putins words) thus working against American interests... plus doing it publicly plenty of times too for that matter

my two options were: he's a Russian puppet or such a childish narcissistic piece of shit he would put himself over the country

it HAS to be one of those... (and neither is remotely acceptable)
tumbleweed
the wanderer
Thu Jan 24 21:54:24
also, this was during the lengthy time period where Trump & his seemingly tiny brain couldn't comprehend the simple difference between 'Russia interfering' & 'his campaign colluding w/ Russia'

note this whole 'they're too good' idea is all about defending interference at all, not about collusion

being a Russian puppet would also explain that problem

so he either has that extremely tiny brain who can't handle a simple concept or is the Russian puppet

combining the issues... he's
a) an extremely tiny-brained childish narcissistic shit-stain who puts himself over country
b) a Russian puppet

either plausible, at least one definitely true

Trump has been describing women being duct-taped and tossed in trucks & driven across the border as his description of how human trafficking is happening

apparently NO ONE has any idea where he's getting that... experts say that's not how it happens at all

so just like w/ the Visa Lottery, he just imagines how it works based on the term & tells the story repeatedly (he was wrong start to finish on his explanation of that lottery on multiple occasions)

presumably his repeated 'turn left' story is just made-up too... where he claims they drive along existing fence then turn left into the U.S.

why is this completely made-up bullshit acceptable to ANYONE?

It's called rhetoric. If you don't like it then you want to go back to when only property owners could vote. That would increase the level of discourse, but then the wall would be 20 feet higher.
Turtle Crawler

Sun Jan 27 18:43:03
Whats not rhetoric is how far inland ICE/border patrol is located. How illegals are perfectly fine in the inner us, until they go to the border and find they can't get back home. That all needs to be fixed, we should have security all the way up to the border, not seed the first dozens of miles, and illegals should be just as likely to be caught anywhere in the US as they are today in the southern areas.

But that's not what convinces anyone, hence the rhetoric, which is effective.
tumbleweed
the wanderer
Sun Jan 27 18:47:59
this is not rhetoric

completely falsely describing the visa lottery in an effort to change the policy is completely unacceptable (& embarrassing... but he said same thing 2-3 times w/ no one correcting him)

advocating for a wall w/ totally false stories is as well

but the root cause is even more concerning... he hears a term & decides what it means rather than gaining any factual knowledge, & says it over & over

i'm not certain he even knows he made it up... his mental illnesses abound
tumbleweed
the wanderer
Sun Jan 27 18:50:59
...for the record, i don't care about the visa lottery, just noting the President should know what it is before arguing against it... NO evidence that he does, STRONG evidence that he does NOT

& under no circumstance should he be just guessing what things are when speaking publicly (or ever) yet it seems to be standard practice for him
Turtle Crawler

Sun Jan 27 19:02:40
Yes, that is the very definition of rhetoric.

Rhetoric is more effective the closer it is to the truth, but it isn't made to be analyzed in the way you want it to. That's dialectic.

As much as you and I would both love it to be run by dialectic, that means removing the vote from 95% or more of the population.

if there's some assumption that Trump knows the truth and is dumbing it down, that is not a safe assumption

multiple accounts describe him as never reading briefings, struggling to pay attention in meetings, and primarily concerned with watching TV coverage of himself

I've heard no one describe a different Trump

I would bet any amount of money he heard 'visa lottery' and decided what it was in his mind, same with 'human trafficking' and has no problem just claiming it as facts to the public

he claimed 2 of Cohens felonies were made up just to embarrass him (which is ridiculous) and that Cohen implicated him just to get sentence reduced (which there was no reduction, and that was known when Trump said it)

he claims Hillary lied to the FBI with no evidence, plus a whole host of other people recently, again with no evidence. Also repeatedly implies it's shocking they didn't record or put Hillary under oath even though that's standard practice (and lying still illegal w/o oath).

he repeated a false claim over and over and over of people seeing bombs 'all over the place' in that San Bernardino incident and not reporting it (to back up his 'Muslim neighbors all know what the terrorist ones are up' to suggestion)... his story not true

and I'm just working off the top of my head, no research at all... almost every claim he makes is factually wrong

Sun Jan 27 22:01:03
...also outrageous was his fake 10% middle-class tax cut he claimed was just about ready to roll-out at the midterms that NO ONE had any knowledge of, was entirely made-up to try to get votes

i don't recall accepting past leaders of just constantly making shit up that's entirely false

he hasn't talked about visa lottery in awhile, but it's a great example: he multiple times described evil foreign leaders putting the names of their worst people in a bowl then corruptly reaching in and pulling out the worst of the worst

well... that's not remotely how it works, individuals have to send applications to us & we decide... foreign leaders aren't even involved

how can you argue against a policy w/ absolutely no knowledge of it & with total lies to the public (how many learned he was entirely falsely describing it?)

*perhaps not technically a lie as he probably never asked how it worked... he thinks he's smarter than everyone & doesn't need to learn anything... conveniently, he even has a tweet today saying so:
http://twi...ump/status/1089881244312178688

why is this acceptable? in the past when a lie was called out, the politician was embarrassed, maybe even acknowledged it & STOPPED repeating it... not w/ Trump

this situation is absolutely crazy (he also knew nothing of the Iran Deal... nor NAFTA, lying that his** deal is entirely different which is FALSE, not spin)

**not that he did any of the negotiating

a big story yesterday was how intel chiefs were contradicting Trump on a range of foreign affairs... so obviously idiot child had to respond, here's one combo-tweet:

"
The Intelligence people seem to be extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. They are wrong! When I became President Iran was making trouble all over the Middle East, and beyond. Since ending the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, they are MUCH different, but .... a source of potential danger and conflict. They are testing Rockets (last week) and more, and are coming very close to the edge. There economy is now crashing, which is the only thing holding them back. Be careful of Iran. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!

Seb,

I hope you and your fellow N. Saudi Arabian countrymen are preparing for carbon neutrality.

Stephen Colbert ran a clip of numerous people on Fox News suggesting the Green New Deal bans cows (or will lead to cow assassination squads... a concern from worthless asshole Dan Bongino)... so for the record, banning cows is not actually in the deal

(although it was a sarcastic comment in a FAQ as to why the goal was carbon neutrality instead of zero carbon)

"Stephen Colbert"

Remember when late night television wasn't just a front for the DNC's propaganda machine?

That was nice.

"According to an initial outline of the measure, the freshman Democrat and Sen. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) said they “set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.”"

So in the beginning getting rid of cows was a part of the deal. Then someone pointed out how stupid that idea was and they changed the proposal.

Sad part is someone had to tell them it was a stupid idea.

that cow/plane thing was a sarcastic comment... I guess all the liars grabbed on to just the cow part as it would be too obvious it wasn't serious if they mentioned the planes part

The rigged figure skating competition rocked the 2002 Olympics. Andrew McCabe says the Russian gangster behind it also ran a money laundering scheme out of Trump Tower and was at Miss Universe in Moscow. The ex-FBI Deputy adds, “I don’t really believe in coincidence.”

w/ video expounding more on that (which is factual info... beyond 'no coincidences')

Hey Michael Cohen - Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot...

Matt Gaetz sadly is in Congress & is another Devin Nunes type (Trump ally, spreads lies on his behalf constantly, etc)

and now intimidating a witness a day before public testimony... so acceptable

a capo in the Trump crime family

Lol, Donald’s ally is really threatening to reveal Cohen’s infidelities? Cohen, who is testifying tomorrow about Trump paying hush money to pornstar whom he fucked while his third wife was having his fifth kid? One would think they’d avoid any mention of people fucking around on their wives, but apparently you gotta be able to feel shame for that. At this point, if you wanted to characterize Republican Party, it would be a tough choice between the family values party, and the law-and-order party. Also, the party of fiscal discipline would be a strong contender, after GOP’s triumphant tax cut that immediately blew up the budget deficit.

the capo's defense is that Cohen lying to his wife about affairs is relevant to whether Cohen may lie to congress...

one might note that Cohen was a Trump associate for over a decade so is obviously scum, and, oh... he already was caught lying to Congress... so lying to his wife really adds nothing to weighing his credibility... and also doesn't explain the speculation about whether his wife will remain faithful once she learns the supposed info... (that Gaetz has for what reason and by what means?)

maybe he'll add "don't worry rat, I'll be sure to check in on her for you"

According to NY Times & 4 sources: Trump overruled everyone to give Kushner his security clearance (and of course the Trumps lied about it)

supposedly both John Kelly and Don McGahn wrote atypical contemporaneous memos as concerned about it (as Comey was doing for the same reason)

White House hasn't denied story, just claimed they don't discuss security clearances

Kushner's lawyer only stands by what they said a long time ago (which is 'they were told' he got it fair and square or whatever)

so basically no denials of NY Times story

Trump's CPAC speech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x0I_HBOX0k

guaranteed to be 2 hours of bullshit & lies, but i've only watched a few horrible segments

if anyone watches, feel free to note the time stamps of him actually talking factually about policy or something of substance, i'd like to know

...or just when not being a total embarrassment to the nation

^at ~38:45 he's telling a pointless idiotic story about how a long-time friend now calls him 'Mr President'... he goes on for ~2 minutes about it & forgets what he was talking about (which was corruptly approving ANWR drilling in Alaska because a friend in the oil business convinced him to even though he wanted to deny it to punish Lisa Murkowski (R) for not being nice enough to him... making national policy decisions out of personal friendship or spite is what you want in a President)

anyway back to his pointless idiotic story... he says 'that's actually true' two times... so basically acknowledging almost everything else he says is made-up

Dunning–Kruger effect
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people of low ability have illusory superiority and mistakenly assess their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias of illusory superiority comes from the inability of low-ability people to recognize their lack of ability. Without the self-awareness of metacognition, low-ability people cannot objectively evaluate their competence or incompetence.

As described by social psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger, the cognitive bias of illusory superiority results from an internal illusion in people of low ability and from an external misperception in people of high ability; that is, "the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others."

Definition

In 2011 David Dunning wrote about his observations that people with substantial, measurable deficits in their knowledge or expertise lack the ability to recognize those deficits and therefore, despite potentially making error after error, tend to think they are performing competently when they are not: "In short, those who are incompetent, for lack of a better term, should have little insight into their incompetence—an assertion that has come to be known as the Dunning–Kruger effect". In 2014 Dunning and Helzer described how the Dunning–Kruger effect "suggests that poor performers are not in a position to recognize the shortcomings in their performance".

Trump should submit himself for psychological study... he's a perfect example of so many problems
