Even as a lowly grad assistant getting paid 20k a year i was never close to insolvency. Live within your means. Do simple math. It aint hard.

Even worse, the air traffic controllers i know, with nice upper middle class wages of 100 to 150, are "struggling to pay bills". Those aholes have no excuse whatsoever.

Maybe they have kids who has got to have iphones, macbooks and hip clothings. All that shit ain’t cheap. And then they gotta pay for the house and the cars they bought. And if your kids are playing ice hockey or something then you have to pay for all that gear and shit.

"Even as a lowly grad assistant getting paid 20k a year i was never close to insolvency."

$20k/year was pretty nice in 1980 (it's a joke, I'm calling you old). $20k/year now, not so much. It's also much cheaper when you don't have a family + kids. Shit has become expensive and wages have stagnated. I wouldn't feel outrageous estimating that 50% of that 80% (or about 60% of people living paycheck to paycheck) are doing so with families weighing down their expenses.

But yes, there's definitely a group of people who are just awful with math, money, impulse control, or a mix of all 3.

And suggesting that everyone live in the middle of nowhere with patom is ridiculous. You need access to a paycheck and there just aren't the same volume of jobs in the boondocks as their are near city centers. Of course, living in the actual city (basically any city people could easily name) is retarded. Suburbs may be boring, but they're (usually) cheaper and practical.

Consumer credit is a hole that almost digs itself.

I also think we should all move in with patom in the middle of nowhere. We can work at the county jail.

"Consumer credit is a hole that almost digs itself."

Owning 0 credit cards is something I'm proud of.

"But there's a LOT of bad math out there."

My coworker complains about money, having to pay her rent, the cost of plane tickets from O'Hare to LAX, goes out to lunch regularly AND just bought a Nintendo switch in impulse. There are a lot of tards out there.

Ya like i said bad math. Credit cards are for airline perks and convenience, not for actual credit, and this is obvious.

I don't live in Washington County anymore. I now live less than 10 min. from that thriving metropolis of Bangor Me. :)
I still have plenty of wild game tramping through the yard. A couple of winters ago we had 50 wild turkeys surrounding the house. Deer almost every day. Coyotes, porcupines, groundhogs, have heard bobcats. Haven't seen any bears or moose here but there isn't anything stopping them.
Set up a game cam to see what comes through at night.

Probably should invest in some bear pepper spray at least if your life is that lively.

Though you probably have a gun already.

I hear Maine hunters are douches and leave trash out to lure bears and then shoot them. What a sissy-ass way to deal with a bear.

Sam:

Dunno about the states but here you get credit cards offering 0% interest for three years.

That's very tempting. I've used that last year to do a trip to South Africa for a very good friend's wedding. I'll easily pay it off long before it accrues interest. But I'm sure lots of people get suckered in (they wouldn't offer it otherwise).

It's less about being bad at math, and a lot about unforseen expenditures.

Wait until you have kids.

Dukhat, the black bear population in Maine is slowly increasing. They do use bait to hunt them. They also use hounds. Just like many other states.
I don't leave food out

About 20 years ago a friend of mines son heard a noise in the attached shed and went to look. There was a bear in the doorway. He shot it. They had recently closed the landfill and the dump bears were all over looking for any garbage they could get into.

The biggest concentration of bald and golden eagles I have ever seen was at the Charlotte County land fill over in New Brunswick Canada. Went there with my nephew and there were at least 100 of the raptors there. They like an easy meal.

I'm not a hunter, too lazy. I just like watching the critters. Every once in a while I like wandering the logging roads. I've seen maybe a dozen bear over the years and a few moose. I've seen more moose while I was driving truck than when I went looking for them.

Lots of eagles out west. Saw one tree with about 20 bald eagles in it. Murrica!
