So you get invited to the White House and Trump offers a lukewarm and shitty burger from McDonalds. Bwahahaha!!

They could have bought that for themselves anytime they wanted. Jesus. What a disappointment it must have been for them – going to the White House and then have to stand there with a greasy BigMac in their hand and a forced smile on their face and say thank you mr president. LOL!

the start/gist of the article for those who don't want to battle pay-wall:

The Clemson Tigers, fresh off their Jan. 7 victory over Alabama in the College Football Playoff national championship game, arrived Monday for a White House visit with President Trump. The team was served a variety of fast-food items, for which the White House said Trump paid out of his own pocket.

“I think we are going to serve McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King’s with some pizza. I really mean it,” Trump had said earlier in the day. “It will be interesting. I would think that’s their favorite food. So we’ll see what happens.”

According to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders (via The Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey), Trump was “personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods” because the partial government shutdown meant that some of the White House staff who might have handled the catering for this type of event are on furlough.

he's pretty proud of it:

"Great being with the National Champion Clemson Tigers last night at the White House. Because of the Shutdown I served them massive amounts of Fast Food (I paid), over 1000 hamburgers etc. Within one hour, it was all gone. Great guys and big eaters!"

”over 1000 hamburgers etc”

In the video at Washington Post Trump says it was 300 hamburgers.

But maybe if he is counting the pizza slizes and the dip sauces for the freedom fries, then maybe it is 1000 in total.

”(I paid)”

Did he have to include that?

"[Trump noted] that the food was “piled up a mile high”"

Caught him in another lie!! That food couldn't have been more than a foot or *maybe* three feet high. If it had been a *mile* high (which is **5280** feet high!!), then it wouldn't have even fit in the White House!! I bet Trump's supporters just ate up that lie like they ate up his campaign promises!
#ImpeachTrump #CancelSouthPark #CancelTheSimpsons #AmbienIsGreat

Anyways, kind of a non-story. We can't pretend that fast food isn't popular; those restaurants stay in business for a reason. And some early-20s college kids who have been on a strict diet all season aren't exactly likely to complain that their free White House dinner wasn't a diplomat's chicken/beef/vegetarian set-plate dinner. I only feel bad for the local fast food places who suddenly got big orders on short notice ;D

If the Democrats would allow the Mexicans to pay for the wall then Trump could have served something different.

Yeah, exactly. Unless they have some kind of door in the roof that they can open during special circumstances.

"for the record, this has not been a big story on CNN"

This was a top story on CNN's international page for most of the day. That said, as bad as CNN is, the international version is 100x worse. It's targeted at foreigners, who only care about the U.S. for bullshit things like celebrities and the ongoing Trump White House Reality Show.

What exactly should be served at the white house ? This is a level of idiotic outrage I haven't seen before. The closest equivalent would be beer gate? I guess? Basically morons are upset that trump didnt splurge on some sort of food for visiting college kids.

That was my thought when I read the (non)story. What college kid doesn't like fast food? I ate my fair share in college. Not because I was poor or secretly wanted something better. It's because it's delicious, goes well with booze, and IDGAF if it has a bunch of calories.

Clemson players are just the latest victims of the government shutdown. Democrats need to end this madness and get back to the negotiating table.

i don't know if this is an outrage story... just a mockery story

maybe some day Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be President and average 6 lies a day, and have meetings alone w/ the Iran's leader & do nothing but praise him & Iran, and have 6ix9ine* in the oval office for some Taco Bell

i don't know what would be analagous to all the false smearing of the FBI & Justice Dept & intel agencies in general (purely in his own self-interest & that of Russia, rather than actual factual complaints)... and not reading briefings and literally making claims up on a regular basis

...and she'd watch MSNBC all day, and would be her sole source of information

plus something analogous to Trump claiming mass voter fraud in every election involving him, and claiming all negative news is false and declaring the sources to be fake... yet still cite those organizations when he likes a story...

and making decisions via tweet with little consultation, even surprising the people in his own administration directly affected

"This is a level of idiotic outrage I haven't seen before."

Who is outraged?

"Democrats need to end this madness and get back to the negotiating table."

The only person not negotiating is Trump. You should, well I'd say ground yourself in reality, but we know you aren't able. You should follow hot rod's example.

"The only person not negotiating is Trump."

That's a pretty novel take on the Democratic position that Trump needs to completely capitulate before negotiations can start.

They did their job. Bills were passed by both houses. Dems and Reps negotiated. And then Trump threw his fit.

Trump met alone with Putin... at Trumps request
not a single person has said they know what was discussed
----

as to shutdown, why did the Senate pass the spending bill in December if wall-funding was critically needed for the safety of the nation

the wall funding is the only sticking point even though Trump desperately trying to make it synonymous with 'border security'

http://www...m-about-trump-salary-donation/

He does receive in addition an expense allowance of $50,000 annually to assist in defraying expenses relating to or resulting from the discharge of his official duties as well as 19k a year for entertainment expense.

Considering his history of salary donations I'd say odds are pretty good that the cost came from the 50k or 19k allotments. Will be difficult to prove either way.

JFK the trust fund baby also donated his Presidential salary.
