Saudi Prince Told Aide He Would Use ‘a Bullet’ on Jamal Khashoggi

WASHINGTON — Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia told a top aide in a conversation in 2017 that he would use “a bullet” on Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist killed in October, if Mr. Khashoggi did not return to the kingdom and end his criticism of the Saudi government, according to current and former American and foreign officials with direct knowledge of intelligence reports.

The conversation, intercepted by American intelligence agencies, is the most detailed evidence to date that the crown prince considered killing Mr. Khashoggi long before a team of Saudi operatives strangled him inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul and dismembered his body using a bone saw.

Mohammed bin Salman should be executed.

This just means that the prince is in the clear, since *he* would use a *bullet*, not fibre wire, a bone saw, and a plastic bag. They’ll need to find whoever wanted him dead with *those* items ;p

Or, he planned to kill him with a bullet first, in 2017. But then in 2018 after meeting with Trump’s son in law, Kushner, the plan was perfected and they had him killed with a plastic bag, wire, bone saw, and acid.

It is hard to understand, indeed. Donald's administration putting up with this for so long, that is. This is not Israel we are talking about, there is no powerful saudi lobby, there is no sizeable support for saudis in congress, not in media. In fact, the condemnations are bipartisan and any action against saudi would be a political winner for Trump. We are talking about a country totally dependent on american protection. And yet, they are jumping through hoops in order to protect that fuckin prince. How unbelievable is this - american administration is trying to appease Erdogan so Erdogan goes easy on MBS?

To ease Turkish anger over journalist's killing, White House considers extraditing an enemy of Erdogan

wtf? I mean, why would any administration do this unbecoming shit, instead of scoring easy political points by coming down on saudis, even in some superficial fashion. In any 'normal' world, saudi king would have replaced MBS with some other useless prince by now, even temporary. Instead, saudis are confidently telling everyone to fuck off

The only logical explanation that I see, is that it is Netanyahu and Kushner who are running this shit. They make America do it for Israel. MSB is their guy and Israel needs the Saudis in their Sunni Coalition against Iran.

CR,

What about this is so confusing to you? Try to look at this from the Don's perspective:

-On the one hand, you have a longtime regional ally that has expressed an eagerness to work with the administration, supports our withdrawal from the Iran treaty, is actively fighting a proxy war against Iranian influence in the region, has good relations with our other local ally a Israel, has recently taken (at least minimal) steps to modernize, and is by the way a major producer of the global oil supply.

-On the other hand, you have one of Jeff Bezos' propagandists.

Its kind of obvious which route Trump was going to want to take here.

Nothing from your post explains doing things like trying to appease Erdogan, for example. I get that US will always be sort of soft on Saudis, but it is going this extra mile what is so perplexing. You can do all the things that you listed with another crown prince, MBS is not irreplaceable.

Going extra mile, while they could be earning free, easy political points by punishing Saudis, that's what I mean. I dont think that even trump base would care about MBS

CR,

How about trying to prevent NATO's second-largest army and co-participant in Syria's clusterfuck from pivoting closer to Putin?

As incoherent as the Trump White House often is...there is a basic logical framework in place.

As for MBS...I dont think the Saudis would be too happy if we started asserting that we get to decide who their crown prince is.

"How about trying to prevent NATO's s..."

You are missing the point. None of the policies need to be changed, by all means, continue as you were. You can do it without MBS. I would not expect any US president to amend their ME policies, to somehow completely realign US over this incident. Nor did I expect Donald to be 'good' or moral. I am talking pure selfish politics, especially with Trump who is only about Trump and has zero compunction about trashing anyone. But, not only is he not doing the politically convenient, Donald is bending over backwards for MBS, bravely facing bipartisan political pressure, and it doesn't seem to be blowing over.

Today's news -

"US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday denied Washington was “covering up” the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and promised further action."

How stupid is this? What US president at this point wouldn't ask himself, "What the fuck do I need this for?". There is no powerful political constituency in US that wants this. But not only Donald continues to face the shitstorm, he is actually willing to spend political capital and US authority, to help MBS. I mean, Gulen extradition is a big deal to erdogan, if you ever do it, you should demand something fairly large back from turkey, some significant concessions. Instead, donald reportedly offering it just to ease up pressure on his wahhabi bud

So it is okay to murder and butcher to get what you want. It looks like Obaminated has joined IS now.

That would be both sides of the Khashoggi conflict, actually.

Turks were happy to buy IS oil and Saudis seeded them.
