The ultimate ending:

After Luke "sacrificed himself," he found himself still alive, but in spirit form not unlike Voldemort. After ages of torment as a spirit, he ends up time traveling and finds a particularly force sensitive host, a young Sheev Palpatine. Luke becomes Palpatine long before Anakin is ever born, starts the wars, then returns in episode 9 as Palpatine reincarnate (again) to lay waste to the rebellion and finally conquer the galaxy.
