Weapons of mass construction.

Nice job, Seb. Hey, as long as there's no guns it's totally worth it to devolve into a nation of mindless zombies who can't be trusted to assemble their own furniture.

Police are able to confiscate these things if they have good reason to think they are to be used as weapons. This does not mean they will confiscate tools from anyone and everyone.

Given these were likely confiscated from kids, despite the ridiculous tweet, I do not doubt they were being carried as weapons.

"Sam wants gang members to not be stopped by police?"

Sure. Stop suspicious people. But arrest them for carrying pliers?

Ok confiscate. Confiscate a pair of pliers and then brag on twitter about how pliers are dangerous weapons. You realize how retarded that is.

Sam:

You've been going on about all the stabbings. What do you think the 13-17 year olds involved in these are using? K-bars? Cavalry swords?

Predominantly improvised shivs. Half a set of scissors, screwdrivers etc. Pliers looks like someone trying a bit hard and cant lay his hands on anything decent.

The areas referred to in the tweet are inner city housing estates.

If the police find a bunch of loitering kids who should be in school, they stop and search them on reasonable grounds and confiscate this stuff because they aren't skipping school to rewire the bushes in the park. Mostly they carry this stuff for fear that every other youth is carrying something - and most are defacto members of gangs in some form or another - "from another block".

So the police, given the circumstances, make a big show of having disarmed people as both a deterrent and attempt to remove the main reason people are carrying improvised weapons.

In the States you'd probably just not bother with the confiscation, just zap them with a teaser, sit on them until they suffocate, and claim you were in reasonable fear of your lives.

Shooting scum is a much better deterrent than confiscating a pair of pliers and then making a weakass twitter post about it.

Not speech I disagree with. In any case, you are advocating murdering kids now, on the basis of class and race.

And yet you deny you are a Nazi.

No, on the basis of being violent criminals.

Dumbass.
Seb

Well no, because there is no evidence that these individuals committed any crime and the biggest reason for kids carrying improvised shivs is self defense.

So you really are just for murdering them for being poor and black. Scum, as you put it.

I don't know why you bother.
Forwyn

But robbing them for being poor and black is acceptable, apparently

"Confiscating"

A nice word to use from a position of power. From the position of a poor, unprivileged youth in a society that levers systemic racism against them, they owned the tools and had them stolen with the underlying threat of force. <3

"improvised"

I don't see an ounce of improv there. Nothing to distinguish them from regular tools.

"Sam couldn't kill an unarmed child with a pair of pliers."

What grown man would use a pair of pliers to kill a child? That would slow you down.

I guess it's common in the US for a groups of 15 year olds to hang around in the central park of an inner city estate notorious for gang fights each carrying one tool.

Flash mob to, er, rewire the trees? Gosh you are trusting chap. One might say naive and gullible.

Well, it's certainly not common in the US to stop and frisk some kid walking down the sidewalk and steal his pliers.

"They aren't grown men."

You made a snide comment about a grown man using pliers to kill a child. I'm just curious as to how the pliers pictured in the OP would expedite the process.

The scenario is, unfortunately, all too familiar: a knife owner is stopped by police while carrying and the police officer confiscates the knife. Sometimes this happens when the knife owner is arrested, but often the police officer, mistaking the knife as contraband (an item illegal to possess), takes the knife and doesn’t arrest the owner. In the mind of the police officer, they are doing the person a favor – like giving the knife owner a warning instead of a speeding ticket.

If the knife truly is contraband, this is an act of mercy on the part of the officer. But often legal knives are confused with illegal knives, even in jurisdictions with straightforward knife laws. This is because the wide variety of knife designs do not easily fit into legal categories in the law. For example, assisted opening knives are often confused for switchblades.

Granted, pliers are an odd one and highly contextual.

But I think the above shows that in many states US police powers are wider and more frequently used.

Sebs nation of cucks strikes again.

This time they included a spoon in their confiscations!

Where are the places you are most likely to be stopped and have innocuous weapons seized from you in the US?

-DC
-NYC
-Chicago
-Cali

i.e. the places closest in policy to the UK

I'm really glad they took that file away. They might have tied someone down and filed away at them and after 1,000 years the victim might be dead.

Confiscating tools = good police work because "they might be used as weapons." LOL.

I guess it's up to the police to decide what my intentions with legal objects are. And if they decide I might try to hurt someone with them then they can steal them from me. What if they were going to use their intelligence to plot a crime? Maybe the police should confiscate their heads too.

Smart dude:

Why do you think a group of kids are carrying around a collection of tools (one item each) like this, while loitering in the central park of an estate? One notorious for youth gang fights and stabbings, most conducted with improvised shivs. A single screwdriver tucked into their wasteband. Clearly, he is a trainee engineer who is looking for his first job to tighten an m3-5 Philips cross head so he can afford to buy the next screwdriver in the set. One day, he'll be able to work his way up to a posidrive.

And the chap with a file, will he was just going to give people street pedicures, but only has a metal file. He will now go hungry.

Glad to see not much gets past detective smart dude. He's astute. He knows the street. He'd off to find a coffee & doughnut shop.

No it's not up to the police. If stopped, you get a receipt. You can challenge the police as to whether they had probable cause etc. They have to have probable cause to carry out the search.

And as I've pointed out, most of the US had the exact same powers and more so, they just use it for extortion of cash and property for sale.

"One day, he'll be able to work his way up to a posidrive."

And if it's real good one day he'll be able to buy a powerdrill, aka a fully automatic assault screwdriver.
Seb

Well, not really. Bit hard to stab someone with a drill.

What's your angle exactly here - basically we should ignore kids stabbing eachother with shivs; legalise guns, and have them shoot eachother with ar15s; and police not use confiscation powers to take objects worth under £5 but take their cash instead to fund policing?

It's an unusual take I have to say.
