Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly. Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative....

We don’t have bail in Sweden. And what is the alternative Trump is speaking of? Is Trump offering to take Asap’s place if they release him? And how can Trump assure that Asap won’t leave the country? If they release him he is most likely going to return home.

And why is Trump calling the Swedish PM to begin with? The Swedish PM can’t interfere in the judicial process.

Asap’s case is going up to court in any day anyways and Asap will then be set free, so why did Trump care about this case so much that he made a phone call to the Swedish PM? And why so late?

A) Trump is an idiot who doesn't research anything (that should answer most questions)

B) Trump's being called racist, so is attempting to lasso black celebrity idiot Kanye back to his side by helping a black guy he would normally be calling a thug & requesting the death penalty for

"Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail,"

"We don’t have bail in Sweden"

It's the thought that counts. Also, how do you not have a bail system? Fucking weirdos.

"It's the thought that counts."

But if Trump really cared about Asap, he would have called the Swedish PM two weeks ago. Or he would personally have travelled to Sweden to meet with Asap in jail to make sure he is doing okay.

I'm more inclined to believe tumbleweed's option B above. Trump is only using Asap to score a political point, and not out of empathy for Asap.

Becaues you don’t need it in Sweden, if there is no or little risk of flight, you will be let ”loose”. Likewise in the USA when the risk is very high, the whole bail thing is tossed out, if I am not mistaken?

Para,

Or Trump just learned of the case after chit chatting with his good friend Kanye and is now taking it up.

nim,

Yes. But if a person does get let loose, we're not so naive as to let them go without putting up some sort of collateral to compel good faith.

It would be interesting to see some stats from each country on how many people dodge their court dates and fuck off.

"assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly."

It would also be interesting to see stats from each country on how fair people are treated.

I don't think Sweden is a paradise though. Shit happens here too, and we also have our share of racists who love to treat africans less fair than white people.

for clarity, A) & B) weren't meant as options, both are factually true

Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky

One should wonder why a drug addict/dealer would follow you around and asking to have his headphones back. I have lived in Sweden all my life and I have never been followed by a drug addict/dealer. But then I have never approached a drug dealer to buy drugs either.

I’m guessing that Asap’s entourage was looking to buy drugs and found this guy. Either they bought some drugs from him or not, I don’t know, but they seem to have stolen his headphones. That’s why he was following them and ”harrassing” them. He was asking to have his headphones back.

”Donald J. Trump

Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! ”

Perhaps that is what Sweden is doing here. If you beat someone and/or steal something, you will be arrested.

If Trump tries to obstruct justice in his own country he will be in deep trouble with the very principles of the US constitution.

Trump seems to think Sweden is some post colonial back water outpost.

Trump will get his criminal fellow back sooner or later, we don't want him here anyway.

Listening on the news this morning, I heard that this guy could get as much as 5 years. Isn't Sweden the place that only gave the mass murderer 17 years?

There's no chance that he will receive 5 years in jail. lol

"Isn't Sweden the place that only gave the mass murderer 17 years?"

What mass murderer? If you are thinking about Breivik, then it was in Norway. Jergul's country. I think they gave him 21 years in jail. In addition they can give him +5 years indefinite times. So basically he could spend the rest of his life in jail.

Asap is accused of beating/assault of the "normal degree". Normally you won't be arrested for this, but since he is a foreign national and the prosecutor and judge believes there is a risk that he may leave the country – so he is put in the arrest until trial.

Chances are that he will be found guilty and sentenced to up to 3 months in jail, at the max. If he is a first time offender and if the lawyer can convince everyone that Asap acted in self-defense he might not receive any jail sentence at all, but instead to pay a fine to the victim. I'm not a legal expert but this is what I believe.

Since Asap has been in the arrest for ... is it 3 weeks now ... and since he has lost income during this time, the judge may rule that he has already served his sentence and he will be free to go. Maybe he will just need to pay a fine.

“The rule of the law applies to everyone equally and is exercised by an independent judiciary. That’s the way it is in the US, and that’s certainly the way it is in Sweden. Political interference in the process is distinctly off limits. Clear?”
~ Carl Bildt, a former PM of Sweden

i assure you, none of that is clear to Trump
