i didn't say he was a Russian asset (although it remains on the table)... but he clearly has no intention to ever have any concern about their actions (& in fact will defend them) for whatever unfit reason you want to pick (i'll assume his devotion is rooted in $$$)

he's also sticking up for Kim Jong Un today, as they are best buds

he will also stick up for Saudi Arabia (& Israel) no matter what they do

he will also attack Canada, France, Germany, other traditional allies... plus any of our institutions that don't bow to his will... at every opportunity

that's who he is

today, Nikki Haley criticized Trump for mocking Elijah Cummings getting burglarized

Justin Amash was able to see the clear obstruction in the Mueller report ('oh he's not Republican any more'... how is that relevant? if it's all made-up Dem nonsense)

many (all?) respectable conservatives find Trump disgusting (feel free to name your most respectable who support Trump, including his character not just those who ignore everything he says or does)

this is not all some Dem/liberal hit job, Trump IS awful

I like that you have to throw in "including his character". I've never once claimed he is of good character. I've argued you can separate character and policy. I've pointed out people want him to be evil so they determine everything he does is evil.

There are plenty of policy issues that should be getting scrutiny instead of how many hookers has he paid to keep quiet. I don't like that he uses the executive order so much. I don't like that he is happy with increasing the budget and the debt. By the way the spending increase is something most those who hate him would normally be celebrating.
His tweets are at times idiotic and are always a distraction. They are not policy though so nothing to get all bent out of shape over.

Democrats and Republicans fighting is nothing new. Been happening since about 1854.
What has changed is how far right an left the extremes have gone and how much more vocal those on the fringe can now be.
They do after all get 24 hour a day coverage from organizations that still pretend to be the press. People not out on the edges are still willing to work together we just need to quit fixating on what the fringe is saying.

my point was standard "D's attacking R's, R's attacking D's" is NOT what this is
(i'll admit, it was not clear)

also not a fringe issue or there wouldn't be so many R's also hating Trump

Trump = dangerous garbage (dangerous due to the hordes who think he's actually an honest person & believe his total nonsense no matter how ridiculous it gets)

Trump: "Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!"

Nikki Haley replies: "This is so unnecessary. [eye roll]"

Kellyanne Conway replies to Nikki: "THIS is so unnecessary. Trump-PENCE2020"

Nebraska state senator John S. McCollister (Republican):

"
The Republican Party is enabling white supremacy in our country. As a lifelong Republican, it pains me to say this, but it’s the truth.

I of course am not suggesting that all Republicans are white supremacists nor am I saying that the average Republican is even racist.

What I am saying though is that the Republican Party is COMPLICIT to obvious racist and immoral activity inside our party.

We have a Republican president who continually stokes racist fears in his base. He calls certain countries “sh*tholes,” tells women of color to “go back” to where they came from and lies more than he tells the truth.

We have Republican senators and representatives who look the other way and say nothing for fear that it will negatively affect their elections.

No more.

When the history books are written, I refuse to be someone who said nothing.

The time is now for us Republicans to be honest with what is happening inside our party. We are better than this and I implore my Republican colleagues to stand up and do the right thing.

We all like to cite Abraham Lincoln’s Republican lineage when it is politically expedient but NOW is the time to ACT like Lincoln and take a stand.

Nebraska does things a bit different with state politics. They have only one house and have no party affiliation at the state level. The entire legislation picks appointments to committees and party affiliation does not appear on the ballot.

They tend to send Republicans to Washington but inside the state they are not near as conservative as what people think. He might fit well with the Republican Party in Nebraska though the governor has pushed the state more to the right but he doesn't fit the Republican Party outside the state.
Going against President Trump in his district is a good political move.

Only tw could take a principled stand by McConnell and turn it into an accusation that he's a Russian agent. He did the same thing with Trump after all.

By the way, Twitter saw no need to clamp down on the #MoscowMitch and #MassacreMoscowMitch hashtags (despite the fact that both tags are clearly defamatory and would get people banned if they had been directed against a Democrat), but it DID find a need to punish McConnell's campaign handle for posting video of leftist protestors shouting death threats at the Senator's home, slapping the account with a suspension and then upholding the action after Team McConnell appealed.

Anyone who doesnt think social media companies are actively trying to undermine the 2020 election is delusional. Forget Russia - they're an ACTUAL threat to election integrity.

Well first he isn't Hillary so he has that going for him.

I liked his Supreme Court picks. I like many of his positions on immigration. I'm okay with what he is doing with China though I think he should have tried going through congress first. I like that he recognized Jerusalem as the capital and moved the embassies. Should have happened when congress first passed that resolution. Was stupid that we thought we could tell another country what their capitol should be.

I like that he got us out of the Iran nuclear deal and out of the Paris accord. I like that he ended DACA. DACA was a cruel program from the very start. Job creation is up under his watch though to be fair I don't think the economy is influenced as much by the president as some might think. I like that he wants other NATO members to meet their agreed to funding. He has removed some regulations that should never have been put in place.
I like that he wants to rework trade agreements though I would prefer he not go in quite so aggressive. I know why he does it I think he might get better results toning it down a bit.

I don't like how easily he went along with increased spending and debt.
tumbleweed
the wanderer
Wed Aug 07 22:30:35
so technically if he wasn't president, none of that would change... he's not actively involved in any of it

also he was not integral in Supreme Court picks, he was given a short list of clones to choose from

leaving the Iran Deal without cause damaged our reputation & ratcheted up tensions w/ no clear benefit as of yet... and if he actually had cause maybe he could've convinced at least one other nation to leave (if he even knows other nations are involved, he didn't appear to for a long while)

moving the embassy yielded zero benefit to us (as well as his Golan Heights gift)

and you'll be disappointed to learn Trump supports DACA (in fact he claims all republicans do)

The Supreme Court finally agreed Friday to referee a two-year-old dispute between President Trump and Democrats in Congress over the fate of nearly 700,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.

The high court showdown, which could be decided in the midst of the 2020 presidential election, will determine whether Trump has the power to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program known as DACA that President Barack Obama created in 2012.

and do you actually think Hillary would have got the USA out of the Paris Accord? Take a nap your synapses aren't firing.

MUH RUSSIA

Foreign interest and influence in elections is not unheard of, and we should be surprised that it took this long for sophisticated efforts to reach the world's superpower.

Any politician that wins an election will not thank a foreign power for his win, especially when their actual "interference" amounts to social media astroturfing.

Thinking otherwise is retarded.

so you find it normal & acceptable for the President to deny what his intel community unanimously concludes* and instead actively try to convince the public the intel community is wrong and not to be believed

including openly siding w/ Putin at Helsinki, then clearly lying to the public about it once even his news channel turns on him

plus you are fully confident all election systems in all states are 100.0% secure

It's about as normal and acceptable as executive agencies unilaterally releasing reports that call into question the legitimacy of the election.

Again, no elected leader in the world would say that the election that put them in power was a sham.

And it wasn't. Undue influence from a foreign power in the form of email releases and fake news on Facebook does not render the entire election bunk.

What should have occurred was a private meeting with the Executive about breach attempts and social astroturfing, and quietly shoring up identified weaknesses.

When and if it becomes public, it should be because government officials are negotiating with social media execs on how to address the issue, not because some faggot in Congress is screeching about impeachment.

It is not wholly unreasonable to expect Trump to have behaved unreasonably when the entire situation was approached unreasonably, and it was used only as a pretext to undermine him.

Nah, I'm ignoring the latter because it's utterly nonexistent and irrelevant.

"and you're ignoring hacking"

"breach attempts"

There is no indication that any hacking attempts went beyond SQL injections and spearphishing to extract voter info.

Troublesome, but that's something that is handled quietly in intel. You don't let hackers know you detected them.

"they obviously had a reason"

We've discussed this ad nauseum for three years now. There is zero reason to be surprised that Russia would prefer a guy advocating drawdowns and friendlier relaitons with Russia to a hawk that wanted a NFZ in Syria in her first 90 days, more missile shields in Eastern Europe, more sanctions, etc etc etc

Liberal Hollywood is Racist at the highest level, and with great Anger and Hate! They like to call themselves “Elite,” but they are not Elite. In fact, it is often the people that they so strongly oppose that are actually the Elite. The movie coming out is made in order...
....to inflame and cause chaos. They create their own violence, and then try to blame others. They are the true Racists, and are very bad for our Country!

In a letter to me sent by Kim Jong Un, he stated, very nicely, that he would like to meet and start negotiations as soon as the joint U.S./South Korea joint exercise are over. It was a long letter, much of it complaining about the ridiculous and expensive exercises. It was.....
....also a small apology for testing the short range missiles, and that this testing would stop when the exercises end. I look forward to seeing Kim Jong Un in the not too distant future! A nuclear free North Korea will lead to one of the most successful countries in the world!

Trump also made fun of US allies South Korea, Japan and the European Union — mimicking Japanese and Korean accents — and talked about his love of dictators Kim Jong Un and the current ruler of Saudi Arabia.

Talking about South Korea, Trump said it makes great TVs and has a thriving economy, “So why are we paying for their defense. They’ve got to pay.” He then mimicked the accent of the leader Moon Jae-in while describing how he caved in to Trump’s tough negotiations.

On his remarkable friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, “I just got a beautiful letter from him this week. We are friends. People say he only smiles when he sees me.

“If I hadn’t been elected president we would be in a big fat juicy war with North Korea. “

Turning to Japan, Trump then put on a fake Japanese accent to recount his conversations with Shinzo Abe over their conversations over trade tariffs.

Trump spoke about his friendship with Abe and how fascinated he was with Abe’s father, who had been a kamikaze pilot. Trump asked Abe if the kamikaze pilots were drunk or on drugs. Abe said no, they just loved their country. Trump remarked, “Imagine they get in a plane with a half a tank of gas and fly into steel ships just for the love of their country!”

Anthony Scaramucci, who was quickly terminated (11 days) from a position that he was totally incapable of handling, now seems to do nothing but television as the all time expert on “President Trump.” Like many other so-called television experts, he knows very little about me.....

..TV talent. Then, during the 2016 Election, I would watch as Joe Scarborough & his very angry Psycho wife(?) would push Donny to the point of total humiliation. He would never fight back because he wanted to stay on TV, even on a very low rated show, all in the name of ambition!

Trump admin moves to weaken endangered species protections

...
The overhaul changes how the Fish and Wildlife Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration consider whether species qualify for protections, as well as how the agencies determine what habitats deserve special protections. It could significantly lengthen how long it takes for a species to become protected, which could further endanger them, but the Trump administration says it allows the focus to be on the "rarest species."

"The best way to uphold the Endangered Species Act is to do everything we can to ensure it remains effective in achieving its ultimate goal -- recovery of our rarest species," Interior Secretary David Bernhardt said in a statement Monday. "An effectively administered Act ensures more resources can go where they will do the most good: on-the-ground conservation."
...
"

David Bernhardt... oil lobbyist... i'm sure narrowing protections to help the rarest is really his reason

The changes are being misrepresented in the articles I read. The EPA can do an economic study and make it public but the rule says economic impacts are not to be used to consider putting species or habitat on the protected list. The articles are saying the economic impact studies can and will be used as a part of the decision.

With the way the rules were before the change they could be used to protect animals from climate changes that might not happen for close to 100 years. The change rolls that back to about twenty years.

I haven't read the changes that are going to be proposed at a later date but if the rule changes that were put in place this round are actually followed there shouldn't be that much difference. The fear of course is that the agency will use the economic impact studies as a part of their decision and simply deny that it was considered.
That is a legitimate concern.

yeah and that is something you watch. When/if it happens then you react.
Lying about what the changes mean isn't the way to go. The new process could actually speed up the designations. Instead of doing separate studies by separate agencies they will have one intertwined study.

I'm not spinning. I am telling you the changes do not allow for economic impact to be a part of the decision. Go read the rule and regulation changes.

Trump himself has proudly tweeted this Bretibart article on it
http://www...ndangered-species-protections/

note the middle

"
The changes included allowing economic cost to taken into account as the federal government weighs protecting a struggling species, although Congress has stipulated that economic costs not be a factor in deciding whether to protect an animal. That prohibition was meant to ensure that the logging industry, for example, would not be able to push to block protections for a forest-dwelling animal on economic grounds.

Gary Frazer, an assistant director at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, told reporters that the government would adhere to that by disclosing the costs to the public, without being a factor for the officials considering the protections.

But Brett Hartl, a government affairs director for the Center for Biological Diversity conservation group, contended any such price tag would be inflated, and “an invitation for political interference” in the federal government’s decision whether to save a species.

“You have to be really naive and cynical and disingenuous to pretend” otherwise, Hartl said. “That’s the reason that Congress way back…prohibited the Service from doing that,” Hartl said. “It’s a science question: Is a species going extinct, yes or no?”
"

obviously the only point of noting the economic cost is to put pressure to toss the animal

i recall watching a special a long time ago on Fox (i think John Stossel or someone similar) doing a story on some loggers/industry -vs- animal story, and he made it seem like it was self-evident that you would side with industry(i think was loggers)... he was only focusing on what was best for the humans as if that was the only consideration

"although Congress has stipulated that economic costs not be a factor in deciding whether to protect an animal"

and you have to be extremely naive if you think private economic impact studies were not being done and then shared with the EPA. Now they will be made public and the public can throw in their two cents worth.
