Although the jail I worked at has never had a successful suicide the best we did was anyone that serious would be put in the 'Green Dress' and put in an observation cell in Intake that always had someone there to monitor. Other than that they would be on 15 min. check if left in a cell block. The 'Green Dress' was made from heavy duty furniture moving blanket material and was secured with velcro strips. the inmate was naked inside the dress and only had a bare mattress to sleep on. We don't know how Epstein was being monitored.

patom Member	Tue Aug 13 14:50:44 Forwyn, in several counties in Maine and I'm sure others across the country, their first experience in law enforcement is working as a CO in a county jail. In the 8 years I worked in the jail there were at least 10 that went into the sheriffs dept. They for the most part were pretty good at their job and a lot more familiar with our frequent flyers. The only reason I went there and stuck it out was for the health insurance that I needed for my wife. They had an excellent Health Care plan. As soon as she got on Medicare I was out the door. We had some really good people working at the jail and we had some duds, just like any other place you work at. Our policy was hiring people as part timers and used their time to evaluate how they would work out as full time CO's. For the most part we were able to weed out quite a few duds. But that was not perfect.
