But Sam told me increased ocean temperatures don't feed hurricanes.

Oh wait, he just tends to make stupid shit up.

I’m not sure I’ve ever even heard of a Category 5. I knew it existed. And I’ve seen some Category 4s. You don’t even see them that much. But a Category 5 is something that, I don’t know that I’ve never even heard the term, other than I know it’s there. That’s the ultimate.

How then, i wonder, did the 1935 storm get so strong then, if the ocean temps were so much cooler?

Lol

Apparently they are turning into animals. Crazy how rational people turn rabid about a few days of no power and water.

interesting story if true:

Bahamas resident Joey Saunders told CNN he and his son slept in trees for two days after Hurricane Dorian destroyed their home with flood waters.

Saunders said it was early in the morning when the water reached the third floor of his home in Grand Bahama, one of the areas hit hardest by Dorian. Their home has 32-foot ceilings — and the water reached the very top, he said.

The current carried away his 25-year-old son, he told CNN's Patrick Oppmann. They were separated for two days, sleeping in trees, before they reconnected.

Slightly exaggerated but cat 5 surge can be pretty scary. Especially to third worlders who cant swim or know how to move to higher ground.

Peak surge was around 22 feet for this one. Real good for an island. Islands usually get lower surge as some water has an easy path around.

Sammy
Do you even work with hurricanes? It seems somehow that you do not.

I work with all atmospheric issues, focussing on disasters. Sometimes in them. I have the greatest job ever.

But jergul knows hurricanes. Lol.
