Meanwhile, here's Buttigieg saying that women should be fully able to abort third-trimester pregnancies at their discretion...because feminism, or whatver:

----

Fox News host Chris Wallace asked Buttigieg whether there should be “any limit on a woman’s right to have an abortion.”

“No, I think the dialogue has gotten so caught up on where you draw the line, that we’ve gotten away from the fundamental question of who gets to draw the line, and I trust women to draw the line when it’s their life,” Buttigieg answered.

“So, just to be clear, you would be okay with a woman, well into the third-trimester, deciding to abort her pregnancy?” Wallace followed up.

“So, let’s put ourselves in the shoes of a woman in that situation. If it’s that late in your pregnancy, that means almost by definition you’ve been expecting to carry it to term,” Buttigieg said.

‘We’re talking about women who have perhaps chosen a name, women who have purchased a crib — families who then get the most devastating medical news of their lifetime, something about the health or the life of the mother that forces them to make an impossible, unthinkable choice,” he continued.

“The bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that woman, that family, may seek spiritual guidance, they may seek medical guidance, but that decision isn’t going to be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is dictating how that decision should be made,” said Buttigieg.

there's also a WaPo story saying the reason Trump withholding military aid to Ukraine may not be because of him being a Russian puppet, but to try to pressure them into interfering in the 2020 election (such as by launching investigation of Biden's son)... similar to what disgraced dirtbag Giuliani was up to

-------------
and

President Trump just arrived at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia. This is his 290th day at visiting one of his properties, according to CNN’s count. That means Trump has officially spent 30% of his presidential term so far at his own properties.

Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office. They also disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election. And they helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers, a Politico investigation found.

When it comes down to it, this is my primary problem with you. You seem to think that any far-left Democratic position, no matter how radical or destructive it may be, is still preferable to a president with a personality that you find disagreeable.

Calling for the gassing of Jews is a political position. That doesnt mean I'm automatically going to support whoever advocates for that if his opponent happens to have a boorish personality.

"personality that you find disagreeable"/"boorish personality"

not disagreeable, mentally unfit for office... he has the mind of a child, as proven daily... he doesn't have any ethical standards... he is smearing every person or institution who disagrees with him or points out he's wrong (including when he provably is)... not a word he says can be trusted, everything he says is purely what makes him sound best... he is willing to simply make things up on the spot rather than say he doesn't know, or just to sound good... he will take the word of those who compliment him over experts (including traditional enemies abroad)... he will decide what is true based on what he wants to be true rather than all evidence

there is so much wrong w/ him... he is dangerous & mentally unsound... not just a 'boor'

Wtf happened today?

Day 963:

A top official at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration warned staff not to contradict Trump.

The Air Force has ordered a world-wide review of how it chooses overnight accommodations on long flights after military personnel were found to have stayed at Trump properties on multiple occasions

The House Judiciary Committee will vote this week to formalize the procedures for an impeachment inquiry

58% of Americans have confidence that stricter gun laws would reduce mass shootings, while 41% remain skeptical

i'd like to note even though some news agencies are reporting that 'NOAA put out a statement backing Trump', it did NOT make his initial claim about Alabama true (the 'most likely will be hit much harder than anticipated' one)... that remains false... it only supported his new claim of what he claimed, which wasn't what he claimed (he's a skilled fraud & liar if nothing else)

Banks now analyze Donald’s tweets for impact,

——————

JPMorgan Creates ‘Volfefe’ Index to Track Trump Tweet Impact

Tracy AllowaySeptember 8, 2019, 8:58 PM EDT

Two of the largest Wall Street banks are trying to measure the market impact of Donald Trump’s tweets.

Analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. have created an index to quantify what they say are the growing effects on U.S. bond yields. Citigroup Inc.’s foreign exchange team, meanwhile, report that these micro-blogging missives are also becoming “increasingly relevant” to foreign-exchange moves.

JPMorgan’s “Volfefe Index,” named after Trump’s mysterious covfefe tweet from May 2017, suggests that the president’s electronic musings are having a statistically significant impact on Treasury yields. The number of market-moving Trump tweets has ballooned in the past month, with those including words such as “China,” “billion,” “products,” “Democrats” and “great” most likely to affect prices, the analysts found.

Bloomberg Tracker: Every Time Trump Tweets About the Stock Market

“Trade and monetary policy have become an increasing focus for the executive branch, and everything from casual sentiments to seemingly formal policy intentions have been disseminated, globally and instantaneously, via this carefully scrutinized social media platform,” JPMorgan analysts led by Josh Younger and Munier Salem wrote. “In response, a broad swath of assets from single-name stocks to macro products have found their price dynamics increasingly beholden to a handful of tweets from the commander in chief.”

The president has averaged roughly 10 tweets a day since the start of 2016, with 10,000 tweets occurring after his inauguration in 2017, according to JPMorgan’s analysis. Trump’s Twitter activity reached a low of five tweets per day heading into his official inauguration, but has picked up substantially since late 2018 -- with his highest number of tweets in the past four years occurring in recent months.

Except for them being official communications to the point that they must be archived or be in violation of federal law. And except for them being admissible evidence in court.

But yeah, no value!
kargen

Having them archived means nothing really. All kinds of things get archived so they can later go into the presidential library.

And sure they would be admissible in court just like any other persons tweets. If I tweet that I am going to rob a liquor store then I go hold up a liquor store I would expect the tweet to be presented as evidence. If I tweeted it would be a rush to rob a liquor store but don't actually do it then the tweet means nothing.

So yeah for tumbleweeds health and sanity he needs to quit treating these tweets as if they are amendments to the constitution. They are just thoughts and ramblings.

full quote:
"
Another Fake News story out there - It never ends! Virtually anytime I speak on the phone to a foreign leader, I understand that there may be many people listening from various U.S. agencies, not to mention those from the other country itself. No problem!....Knowing all of this, is anybody dumb enough to believe that I would say something inappropriate with a foreign leader while on such a potentially “heavily populated” call. I would only do what is right anyway, and only do good for the USA!

i guess if Obama had called the leaders of every country Trump has a project and urged them to launch fraud investigations, R's would've been fine with that... & there would have even been more reason to do so given his multiple class-action fraud suits (& that still wouldn't be as bad as there wouldn't be the aid issue dangling that Trump DID hold up... plus the general pettiness of Trump where you can't afford to offend him)

So stop pretending that an investigation into 2016 Biden propagating the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor is somehow unprecedented.
tumbleweed
the wanderer
Sun Sep 22 01:47:56
'pretending unprecedented'... PLEASE cite an example of something similar occurring

it's Trump asking Ukraine's president to launch an investigation into his political opponent... on an issue that was already resolved... just to make baseless insinuations like he does on sooo many things (recall he wanted the media to look into Cruz's father killing JFK... and Clinton's killing Epstein... jesus, he's so unfit...)

and the disgraceful (getting downright dangerous) liars on Fox News / Republican party are completely skewing the facts, there's ZERO indication Biden wanted the prosecutor removed for any family reasons, there were heaps of people who thought the prosecutor wasn't doing his job (such as, via wikipedia: "Various street protests demanding Shokin's resignation were held and his Deputy Prosecutor, Vitaly Kasko, resigned on 15 February 2016 denouncing the corruption and lawlessness of the Prosecutor's office.") - is Fox News noting that? Trump posted a clip of capo Mark Meadows on trashheap Judge Jeanine's show... guess how accurate that was)

R's -should- be outraged at this and so many other unacceptable behaviors by the amoral child

(also saw lots of 'deep state' complaints out of Fox News clips... yeah, so terrible that all these people horrified by Trump's behavior are letting it be known...)

what is wrong w/ them... can Trump EVER go too far?

we don't have proof of it yet (as the corrupt admin trying to silence it) but:
= he hasn't denied doing it, just saying the conversation was great (even though he claimed he doesn't know what conversation it was) and that it doesn't matter what he talked about
- it seems completely like something he'd do
- Giuliani has admitted doing it

thus, it happened

also there are reports of him telling Russians he didn't give a shit about them interfering in the election (which is obvious to anyone paying attention) but again proves he's unfit for office & failing to uphold his oath

perhaps the dam may be breaking on this ridiculous sham of a presidency...

you may be unaware (Trump sure is) that Russia not only spread misinformation & leaked DNC communications but also targeted election systems in all 50 states... something a fit President would care about (as every sane person would acknowledge)

not sure you could find Trump ever mentioning any interference issue aside from the DNC server, which as we now know, he still doesn't believe Russia targeted... based on no evidence & contrary to unanimous conclusion of the intel community... that's not something a fit President would do (as every sane person would acknowledge)

(plus he believes the server is in Ukraine... because he's a moron)

Lindsey Graham (representative of the Trump/R side of the battle):

"In America you can’t even get a parking ticket based on hearsay testimony.

But you can impeach a president?

I certainly hope not."

======================

George Conway replying to green-spotted Graham (representative of the honest/correct side):

"
It has been a while since you’ve practiced law, so let me help:

* Trump’s incriminating statements are binding admissions against him and are not hearsay under Federal Rule of Evidence 801(d)(2);

* Even if that were not so, the statements would be admissible under Rule 804(b)(3)'s exception to the hearsay rule for statements against penal or other interest;

* To the extent Trump was involved in a criminal conspiracy with Rudy Giuliani, Giuliani’s statements are also admissible against Trump and are not hearsay under Rule 801(d)(2)(E);

* The memorandum of Trump’s call with Zelensky is admissible under as many as four separate exceptions to the hearsay rule—namely, Rules 803(1) (present sense impression), 803(5) (recorded recollection), 803(6) (record of a regularly conducted activity), and 803(8) (record of a public office).

* In any event, you can be indicted in this country on the basis of hearsay. It happens all the time. And an impeachment is the constitutional equivalent of an indictment. So it follows that the House can consider hearsay in deciding whether to begin an impeachment inquiry, just as prosecutors can consider hearsay in deciding whether to convene a grand jury.

So your argument, Senator, is pure garbage, even assuming that the rules of evidence apply in the impeachment process.

But that assumption is trash, too. The hearsay rule needn’t apply even in a Senate trial:

[then he cites PopeHat (another entertaining twitter person)]

Dear Senator Graham:
Senate rules call for the use of hearsay in impeachment, in that committees hear the testimony and report back to the full Senate. It even went to the Supreme Court!

not implied... flat out accused

Trump is the president... people on the left discussing all the evidence of collusion (& evidence did exist...) is not equivalent to the President leveling false criminal accusations repeatedly

and he HAS sold out the country... see every word he's said about Russian interference (even his defenders have trouble finding quotes... the best they find is occasionally getting him to say 'it might have been Russia' then cutting off the quote before he continues on with who else it might have been)

also lets look at the ridiculous level of hypocrisy, the right is upset that the news discussed Trump Jr meeting, & papadopolous, & Trump's secret tower deal, & all the rest (WHICH WERE REAL)... as it was news

now Fox News/team Trump pushing the FBI coup/hoax nonsense story on flimsier evidence, pretending there was no reason to investigate & completely misleading the public on the texts & the dossier & the FISA, etc.

"Trump is the president... people on the left discussing all the evidence of collusion (& evidence did exist...) is not equivalent to the President leveling false criminal accusations repeatedly"

There you go again, confusing the presidency with some sort of special monarchical position that has it's own unique set of rules and standards.

Funny how the media and legislators can spout off whatever nonsense they like in your view; it's only the president that has to have his words vetted by a twenty-man PR team before they can ever be uttered.

'and he HAS sold out the country.."

Factually incorrect.

"see every word he's said about Russian interference"

The "interference" that didnt actually change the election outcome? Okay.

"now Fox News/team Trump pushing the FBI coup/hoax nonsense story on flimsier evidence, pretending there was no reason to investigate & completely misleading the public on the texts & the dossier & the FISA, etc. "

It's pretty clear that condemnation of the FBI and CIA goes well beyond Fox and Trump. When the IG is calling Comey a piece of shit, that's something you dont just ignore.

WASHINGTON — The Oval Office meeting this past March began, as so many had, with President Trump fuming about migrants. But this time he had a solution. As White House advisers listened astonished, he ordered them to shut down the entire 2,000-mile border with Mexico — by noon the next day.

The advisers feared the president’s edict would trap American tourists in Mexico, strand children at schools on both sides of the border and create an economic meltdown in two countries. Yet they also knew how much the president’s zeal to stop immigration had sent him lurching for solutions, one more extreme than the next.

Privately, the president had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks, the president backed off when his staff told him that was illegal. But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested that they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down. That’s not allowed either, they told him.

Unpaid bills pile up in Trump rallies’ wake

Donald Trump has raised record amounts of money as a presidential candidate. But he’s still left a slew of unpaid bills in his wake.

In city after city, across the nation, Trump has failed to pay local officials who provide thousands of dollars’ worth of security assistance to the president’s campaign during his Make America Great Again rallies.

In total, at least 10 cities have complained that the campaign has not reimbursed them for services provided by local police and fire departments, totaling more than $840,000, according to a study by the Center for Public Integrity in June.
