You heard the news. Could the Houtis have pulled this off alone?

If a kid can fly a drone, the Houti army can. It is like playing a video game.

There were 10 drones in a coordinated attack on a secured target. Iran is behind this.

Maybe Saudi Arabia should get the fuck out of Yemen and stop trying to prop up a government attempting to rule in absentia.

The tanker shenanigans didn't work out, so clearly we must find *something* to pin on the Iranians to justify war.

It was probably Israel. They have a long a history of using drones and attacking its neighbors.

Lets denote now and forever that the weak link for oil supply is oil transit facilities (including purification) and not oil tankers (that are notoriously hard to sink or even deter).

As I have been saying for a while as this has been true for at least a decade.

The attack complexity is trivial, but had to involve Saudi disidents or long term guest workers in Saudi Arabia (people who would have qualified for citizenship long ago in a civilised country).

The level of Iranian involvement is less than that of US involvement in ISIL attacks using ATGMs in Syria (assuming a US made ATGM).

Amazing the disconnect. Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen for years and yet this is supposed to be an unconnected and illegal attack.

SD
Secured? What air defence batteries were securing the sites and failed so singularly?

The Sauds need to do the same thing Russia does to defeat drone attacks and deploy air defence systems to vulnerable infrastructure.

Russia has shot down 100ds of drones.

Right. This whole thing would have been much easier to execute directly from Saudi soil. Wouldn't it have been much easier to smuggle in the hardware into Saudi Arabia, than to attack all the way from Iraq or Yemen?

Crude is currently up by 8%, so to answer your question...anyone who relies on an internal combustion engine for transit.

If that's your trollish way of agreeing with me that spikes in gasoline prices would be likely to provoke far more anger among the general American public than anything Saudi Arabia has done in recent history, then okay.

Btw, you analysis of what Saudis will be able to achieve in DC, just might be wrong. Guess whose opinion is this, I will give you three attempts.

"Saudi Arabia should fight their own wars, which they won't, or pay us an absolute fortune to protect them and their great wealth-$ trillion!"

Maybe the climate activists have done the bombing? They would LOVE to see oil rich nations Iran and Saudi-Arabia fight each other.

Saudi Arabia should just buy and deploy short range air defence systems around key sites...and raise its production price from 3.80 USD to say 4 dollars and 15 cents a barrel.

It still has the lowest production costs anywhere.

The only thing US meddling helps protect is Saudi profit margins.

Noting that people are going to be pissed that oil facilities are being bombed != siding with Saudi Arabia.

I guarantee you that all the dead children in Sana'a wouldn't generate a tenth of the outrage that gas price hikes would.

They've used suicide drones in several previous attacks. Is it really that difficult to hit big buildings with them? Here's a pic of a 2017 drone:
https://www.defensenews.com/unmanned/2019/05/21/how-yemens-rebels-increasingly-deploy-drones/

Are their drones remote controlled or do the follow a fixed flight path?

Saudi Arabia is a fucked up country and its ruling family is majorly overdue for a huge comeuppance.

At the same time, people want cheap oil way more than they care about beheaded homos or bulldozed Islamic shrines or women drivers or anything related to the Yemen.

Trivial to target. Your mistake is basing your thoughts on a drone launch from Yemen or Iran...

Iran did it!!!!

http://edi...tack-iran-base-intl/index.html

Saudi and US investigators have determined "with very high probability" that the weekend attack on the Saudi oil industry was launched from an Iranian base in Iran close to the border with Iraq, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

The attack involved cruise missiles -- along with drones -- flying at low altitude, the source said, and their trajectory was from the north of the Abqaiq oil plant, which was struck by more than a dozen projectiles in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The missiles, according to the investigators' current assessment, flew over southern Iraq and through Kuwaiti airspace before reaching their targets. Kuwait on Monday announced it had launched an investigation into reports of sightings of drones or missiles shortly before the Saudi targets were hit.

Or, during the last 50 years of american history there has been plenty of time to learn two things:

1. To not get sucked into wars by war mongers
2. Get involved in conflicts between tyrannical shitholes.

Any day now.

There is no fucking way those missiles and drones shown flew in from Iran, or even Iraq. They don't have the range.

As to produced in Iran. So what? The arms industry is a global industry. Weapons from anywhere can be found everywhere.

Surely, your inability to provide an answer isn't evidence for anything other than exactly that inability. Houthis with the help of Shia fifth column smuggle in the hardware and launch the attack from Saudi soil. Houthis said that the attack was executed with the help of people inside Saudi Arabia. So far the Saudi accusation is "this was sponsored by Iran". We can only hope.

You have to appreciate how inept Arabs are at anything military to understand why they fear Iran so much. Irans march to the med through Iraq and Syria was a stroll in the park in comparison the utter failure of the Gulf Arabs in Yemen. For fuck sake Iran raised, trained and maintained Hezbollah the most effective paramilitary organization that bruise Israel in 2006 long before this land bridge was established. Not over selling their capabilities vs Israel, but to contrast this with how shitty Arab military capabilities are, despite hundreds of billion of high tech US hardware and Iran working with a patch work of native, Russian, Chinese and North korean gear. LOL :)

After having attacked illegitimate civilian targets for years in Yemen, Saudi Barbaria has now launched an attacked on legitimate military targets:

Saudi-led coalition launches military operation north of Hodeidah in Yemen

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Saudi-led coalition on Friday launched a military operation north of Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah against what it described as “legitimate military targets”, an incident that could aggravate regional tensions after a weekend attack on Saudi oil installations.

The coalition said it had destroyed four sites used in assembling remote-controlled boats and sea mines to help protect the freedom of maritime navigation.

“These sites are used to carry out attacks and terrorist operations that threaten shipping lines and international trade in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea,” coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said in a statement.

I am saying it is Iran in the same way the US is attacking the Assad regime in Syria with its anti tank guided missiles.

It delivers stuff to people with legitimate grounds to fight and then those people fight with the stuff.

In this case, people with a couple SUVs from a few hilltops away used google maps, a couple oil processing engineering texbooks, and a few drones to knock out 5% of the global oil supply.
