10 years

Suitable verdict?

The brother hugging her didn't bother me.

The judge hugging her and the female officer fixing get hair was weird AF though.

Once you factor in early release, it's probably a bit on the light side. Nothing worth getting angry about though. And yeah, the judge was pretty inappropriate there.

Also duplicate thread.

I dunno where the other thread is. In looked for it but these thread titles are wild lol

What, are you suggesting that "Dallas badgethot guilty" may have not been the most obvious title for an Amber Guyger thread? Ridiculous.

i'd say it was more comparable to a DUI homicide than a traditional murder & she got more time than the typical DUI homicide, so seems fair to me (plus at age 31, those are some important years)

she was horned up on sexting & made some careless mistakes & bad judgment calls

did they ever explain how she got in the apartment? i heard the doors lock automatically

oh yeah the "I have a vagina and I love cock" defense. Nevermind she trespassed onto another person's property and murdered him. And I thought Oscar Pistorius' defense was flimsy. At least he had the courtesy to murder someone in HIS OWN home.

i don't believe she used that as defense, i didn't follow the case closely but i think it was prosecutors who brought up the sexting as part of their evidence she wasn't tired (had plans to go out or something)

my point is, for whatever reasons, she clearly seems to have believed she was entering her own home & believed there to be an intruder... she had no criminal intentions, it was all mistakes

this guy got 20 years for killing a man while robbing him... he may not have intended to murder either, but he's clearly way more of a criminal:

10 years seems plenty to me (even w/ parole at 5+)

i don't see her remaining a risk (any more than any other Texan anyway), and 5+ years is not meaningless punishment

"did they ever explain how she got in the apartment?"

The door was cracked. Possibly for pot ventilation? Who knows

Amazing that more things like this don't happen. Fucking people glued to their phones don't have a clue what the hell is happening around them. They are the real life walking dead.

I've seen a guy get 7 years for punching and killing a 2 year old. She should be out in 5 with good behavior.
