A bipartisan group of lawmakers including Rand Paul, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar sent a letter to President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

The letter praised the president's December announcement that the US would begin to withdraw US troops from Syria.
"We believe that the stated intention of withdrawing our forces is appropriate, and we look forward to the orderly return of our service members from this theater of conflict," the letter said.

...

The bipartisan letter praised Trump's decision to remove troops, urged the president to follow through on his original announcement within the next six months, and expressed hope that the decision would be a model for ending US involvement in other conflicts."

Promises made, promises kept. The President can be trusted to fulfill his promises.

Meanwhile, let's see how Democrats are doing on the consistency factor:

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
@AOC
Trump decision isn’t about drawing down US military involvement at all.

Remember that earlier this year, Trump VETOED Congress’ attempt to end US involvement in the Yemen War.

He has significant personal financial conflicts of interest in this situation, among other concerns.

he didn't withdraw from Syria, just abandoned the allies... w/ no notice

He has repeatedly stated that he wants to get ground troops out of Syria...how you construe that as "no notice" is beyond me.

Also, Turkey is a six decade-long de jure ally, unlike the Kurds...just saying.

Not the first time the US abandons the Kurds. The US did it during the 1st Gulf war also. They encouraged the Kurds to rise up against Saddam Hussein. The Kurds who thought that they now had the backing of the US to finally get rid of Saddam, did so. But then the US said... nah fuck it. We are getting out of here. And then Saddam started to punish and kill Kurds, as he had done earlier.

Now history seems to be repeating itself. Kurds eagerly helps the US and the West to fight tyrants and terrorists. And then the US yet again turns their back on them. Erdogan is not a Saddam, but Kurds will die during this offensive.

Why the fuck is it our responsibility to protect the Kurds? They arent being wiped out. They lived in Syria before the war. They arent the Yazidi they got wiped out by ISIS under Obama.

“President Trump on Middle East wars on Monday: “I campaigned on the fact that I was going to bring our soldiers home and bring them home as quickly as possible,”
——-

WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (Reuters) - The United States is planning to send a large number of additional forces to Saudi Arabia following the Sept. 14 attack on its oil facilities, which Washington and Riyadh have blamed on Iran, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday

and Trump told his rally idiots that we no longer have troops in Syria (which is false, as you might expect if you're familiar with Trump comments)

also, our troops in Saudi Arabia is what pissed off Bin Laden... (it was not 'our freedom')... for what that's worth

If we're going by that standard, how pissed off do you think OBL would be over the 18-year-long military occupation of Afghanistan?

Also, feel free to tell me when you're willing to pay $5/gallon at the gas pump. Until then, STFU about protecting the oil fields.

Except for the fact that we have enough oil ourselves, that it wouldn't affect the prices of gas. But hey, let's just outright ignore the contradictions and hypocrisy of Trump's actions all because of your hard on for him. "STFU!"

Eat a dick.

"...Combined with other recent deployments, about 3,000 personnel are being sent or having their missions extended in the Mideast, according to the Pentagon. Since May, an additional 14,000 U.S. personnel are in the region, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said Friday"

Remember that Rugian is suffering from delusional cuckold syndrom (DCS) and doesn't have the brain function of a normal person. Remember that long rambling thread where he whined for like 600 words about being cuckolded? He's never been the same since and did what most depressed and devasteted people do: he became a conservative shill. A sort of subconcious trolling because, uh, fuck society?

pretty sure we aren't getting the oil

(and the soldiers aren't coming home)
(and ISIS was secured before the deal then had escapees because of the deal)

I see a lot of hatred from people who can't stand that our president is a man of integrity.

Also it's tough going up against the entire military/CIA deep state, even as president, so it's not surprising to see them try to change the policy here.

"Pentagon sources pretty openly admitting they exploited Trump's obsession with "the oil" to get him to agree to leave forces in Syria, which the military wants to do for other reasons"

"Washington Post"

So in other words, a non-credible source reporting on unsubstantiated claims by unknown sources.

Not really convincing, that.

and yet that oil has no value to us, we are not going to be 'getting' it, & those who want to keep troops in Syria are getting their way

meanwhile, Trump is repeatedly noting we've secured the oil & shouting in all caps that we are getting the oil... combined w/ him being a moron & being obsessed w/ 'taking the oil' from Iraq (which also never made sense)... the story kinda all fits

(plus WaPo has actually -not- been shown to be making up their stories using fake sources as the total moron & obvious constant liar claims)

If members of the military high command are openly deceiving the Commander-in-Chief, then they need to be sacked immediately.

Securing the oil can simply mean denying its usage to ISIS, and given that ISIS had previously used oil revenues to fund its military operations that goal is not unreasonable.

Of course, that assumes that Trump's pull-out actually has led to a "resurgence" of ISIS, when so far that appears to be nothing more than empty hysterics from the pro-interventionist Beltway establishment.

As for WaPo...come on. After shilling the discredited Russia narrative for two years, their credibility is completely shot.

Meanwhile, you seem like you'd be way more happy to have a president who openly delights in destructive Middle East wars which destabilize the region for decades and require a near-indefinite US military presence to sustain...

I'd like a President for whom I could have an ounce of respect... one who had an interest in obtaining factual information, was able to absorb that information and would make decisions based on it... one who didn't regularly make stuff up

"was able to absorb that information and would make decisions based on it"

Informed decisions such as "let's overthrow Saddam and Gaddafi?"

I think your problem is that you overestimate the general satisfaction that people had with Trumps predecessors.

As for Exxon...

he is not a normal functioning person, and not in a good way

re Chapelle, are you conceding Trump is a joke?

tw,

My point being that even if we take your ridiculous premise about him being "not a normal functioning person" for granted, you still have yet to demonstrate why the end-product is any worse than a "normal functioning" president.

re Chappelle, I'm conceding you lack a sense of humor.

the end-product of this decision isn't known (+ will never be known in respect to what Trump wanted to do completely as adults steer him into different choices)

Trump wanted to pull out last December via tweet to the world after talking w/ only Erdogan... didn't end up happening... Trump wanted to pull out again after talking to Erdogan recently... he even told his idiot crowds that all troops had left Syria days afterward (wasn't true obviously), there was no talk by him of staying for the oil... but adults convinced him to stay by playing on his oil lust

having a completely incompetent unfit delusional idiot liar child as President is not ok simply because most of his decisions get overruled... some slip through... our reputation has been damaged w/ basically every ally, trust in the FBI ravaged by lies, trust in judges, trust in elections, trust in legitimate media... all w/ LIES by this liar (yes i know Forwyn is happy people don't trust the FBI, & i'm sure you are happy they don't trust the media... except the problem is the idiot horde DOES trust Trump & the pro-Trump media & it's not just distrust or skepticism of the regular media but belief that they are really just lying & making up stories as he says... they are not)

one moron supporter said 'Trump can't be bought & is the only one who tells the truth'... that's fucked up

(i know calling his supporters morons isn't helpful, but the morons are morons)

plus there's his fueling of conspiracy theories and lowering of discourse... his pals in the media who perhaps once were professional, adopting his childish name-calling

so much wrong w/ this toxic piece of garbage

Precisely, rugian. This is why people elected the guy who is on record supporting both overthrowing Saddam and Ghaddaffi. Very strongly, powerfully dissatisfied, bigly

Trump doubts our intel agencies on all things Russia and with Khashoggi and some other things but does anyone think he had equal doubts when told about Baghdadi?

he chooses what to believe based solely on what he wants to be true (going beyond intel agencies, also why he thinks there's a DNC server in Ukraine and Obama born in Kenya and ~20 other nutjob notions) and happily spews the ideas to his moron fans who believe what he says for some reason

absolutely absurd having this guy in the White House

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s underpants were obtained by an undercover source and DNA tested to prove his identity before an operation by U.S. forces to kill him, an advisor to the Syrian Democratic Forces said on Monday.

The media spent the war saying that Assad is friends with ISIS & the rebels must be armed with heavy weapons to topple Assad & destroy ISIS.

Then why did Baghdadi hide out in the opposition stronghold of Idlib & not in Damascus?

And why are rebel leaders mourning Baghdadi?
