Election results show Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party will return to power, but as a minority government after Monday's general election, according to CBC News and CTV News.

The victory ensures that Trudeau will serve as Prime Minister for a second term.

Trudeau spoke to a cheering crowd in Montreal about his victory.

"From coast to coast to coast, tonight Canadians rejected division and negativity. They rejected cuts and austerity. They voted in favor of a progressive agenda and strong action on climate change," he said. "We will make life more affordable, we will continue to fight climate change, we will get guns off our streets."

Big victory in the fight against climate change. The carbon tax will stay forever as people get use to receiving a check from the government at big oil's expense. Hopefully one will be passed in the US within a year of Elizabeth's Warren landslide victory in 2020.

"Big victory" seems to be overstated given that Canada makes up like 0.4% of the human population.

Also theres a bunch of environmentalists who dont agree with you, they hate Trudeau over his willingness to build pipelines

Anyway, minority government means theres no way his ass makes it a full five years. As long as the conservatives dont do anything to royally fuck themselves, their odds of returning to power soon are pretty good. Fingers crossed!

do you want to hear some policies supported by canada's Progressive Conservative Party? Yes, this is their official name. You might uncross these old fingers after that, fair warning

Would I find them to be worse or better than Mr. SJW's policies? Or the policies of the party that's run by the Arab guy?

Surely you dont think I find them to be more objectionable than the guy who proposed coming for people's guns in an effort to bury negative press coverage of his racist ass past.

Probably not but if just being better than someone else is your standard for keeping your fingers crossed, we should have many other discussions. I can always find worse options for you in US, youd be crossing your fingers, praying for Bernie win

Oh, are we acknowledging that US politicians are proposing a lot more in harmful spending now? So nice to get that concession.

I didnt say anything about spending policies. We can talk about things like guns and abortions, and CPC positions on those

Yes, probably best we stay away from Democrats' plans to massively expand the federal government, given that they would make even Trudeau look like an anarcho-capitalist by comparison. I understand your trepidation there.

Anyway, I give Trudeau three years in power before his government falls. Admittedly that's probably a bit generous, but he does still have his good looks and, well, women voters are stupid.

2 years, I'd say. Although harper governed as a minority for 3 iirc. But parties are broke now, all cash spent on this election, they will need some time to raise money. Also MPs from 2015 class need 6 years in parliament to get the pension, so I think nobody will push hard for fresh elections until 2021
