Weird that they riot, destroys, beat and lynch people while complaining that they don’t have democracy and freedom. But yet they can go and vote in a democratic election.

Okay sure, there are more things to a democracy than elections. But still. Anyhoo... if the pro-Beijing camp is disappointed now, can they also take to the streets now and beat people and destroy the city like their opponents did?

Hong Kong’s pro-democracy parties sweeping pro-Beijing establishment aside in local elections, early results show

HONG KONG — Early results from Hong Kong district council elections on Sunday showed a massive surge of support for pro-democracy parties on Monday in a significant endorsement of the protest movement and an indictment of the pro-Beijing establishment seen as responsible for months of unrest in the city.

Voters took to the polls in record numbers to cast ballots in the only fully democratic election in the Chinese territory, an early sign they wanted to send a strong message to their government and to the Communist Party in Beijing.

The fact that WaPo thinks its garbage content is valuable enough to actually be put behind a paywall is nothing short of astounding.

But anyway...you missed posting a very key part here:

"The councils are relatively toothless bodies, they have few powers, limited budgets and had a reputation for self-serving indolence...The district councils are the only Hong Kong authority selected by full universal suffrage. The city’s leader is chosen by an electoral college and only some seats in the city’s legislature are selected in open ballots."

I highly doubt that the Chinese government or their HK lackeys care all that much about the sentiments of the average Hong Kong citizen at all, frankly.

they need a massive civil war to thin out their numbers

there was a recent article about how the Chinese are decimating the world's donkey population in their quest to grind up every animal for medicine

or chosen by god...

Rick Perry believes whomever wins the electoral college has been chosen by god
(may only apply in good/christian countries though)

"Gawker"

Rugian, wapo business model is already same as Gawker's, another astounding thing for you to learn. Someone bought the company and does with it as he sees fit, be it a paywall or shutdown
