So it doesn't really feel like Ciri, Geralt, or Yennefer have gotten very far in any given episode. At worst, Yennefer looks fantastic naked once she's gotten her magic makeover.

A good story always needs a bard, and the bard is also a good contrast to Geralt. I haven’t read Don Quijote but I imagine Geralt and the Bard to be a little bit like Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. I got a little bit confused at one time because the story jumped back and forth in time without it being evident at first. Ciri’s mom looked identical to Ciri, and the grandmother Queen Calanthe looked to be the same age all the time which added to the past/present-confusion. Triss Merigold should have had red hair like in the game. But maybe she will dye it in Season 2. I would like that. The Nilfgaardians. They should have had a more foreign accent. It would have added to the feeling that they are invaders of the North. If they make the elves speak elvish, they could have made the Nilfgaardian speak Nilfgaardian, or at least english with an accent.

I did keep it on in the background, though, and from what I saw, it looked like it may have improved some as it went. This material was always in danger of falling into the "what works in books and/or in video games doesn't necessarily work in TV/film." From what I saw, I'd say they landed squarely in that realm. Still, when I get time I'll watch the whole first season to check my impressions.

Nothing was established and it kinda showed. -there was no dynamic range for Geralt. He was just angry and grumpy and cynical. This definitely gets better as the show progresses, especially with Jaskier. -the decision to start Ciri's story at the same time as Geralt's and Yennefer's, despite the latter 2's stories beginning decades before Ciri is born. -too much time spent on Cintra to effectively portray Geralt in Blaviken. The tension felt rushed to get to the payoff, but they didn't necessarily earn the payoff.

Also, maybe the last two episodes were just ok, but compared to the first six, they were good tv. I don’t know how to describe this show, it is not good, but not unwatchable. Special effects are something else, couple of times I thought I am being pranked for a millisecond, that’s how ridiculous things look. Goat man and hedgehog knight look so amateurish, you can’t help but start laughing. Also at one point you realize that the show has time jumps, back and forth, like Westworld, I don’t know if people who read the books liked the show better, the story is the best part, I thought, I found it interesting, with all the kingdoms, mages and monsters. Cavill, btw, is not a problem at all here, I thought he was good.

Paramount Member	Sat Dec 28 03:18:01 I think its watchable if you got nothing else to do or watch. You can take it for what it is, low budget. It’s kinda like The Shannara Chronicles. Low budget. In season 1 you can really tell that the main actors are inexperienced. You almost laugh at times at the acting. But the show gets better and better, and the actors are growing with their characters which is nice to see, and overall it is actually watchable and enjoying, because the story is not a bad story. I’ve been waiting for season 3 for like a year now and I’m still waiting. I cancelled my subscription to HBO recently so I will have to subscribe again when season 3 comes.
