The lies have failed!

The deception has failed!

Nancy Pelosi and her partisan hacks took a shot at the King, missed and will pay full price with interest.

The State of the Union is strong and the American people are united in support of Trump against the deep state.

Put it bluntly the liberal communist attempted coup has failed. Now President Donald J Trump will go full animal on your collective asses.

But don't let that get you down. This year I hope everyone falls in love with a candidate that speaks to them. Seriously I hope when the guy that looks like Racheal Maddow on PMSDNC says "Bernie or Pocahontas might win Texas" that you actually believe that crap. Cause 2020 will be important and (spoiler alert) TRUMP will win and I hope his victory will destroy the liberal soul. Cause four more years of Trump will equal a permanent conservative judiciary at all levels of federal government. So even if AOC gets elected in 2024 everything she does will be overturned.

Suck it libtards and God bless America.

I'm sure there's a Monty Python sketch with someone cheering on their own untimely demise that fits here.

Oh sweet summer child. You think there's going to be an election in 2024?

Rush gets the Medal of Freedom award. Now he has the freedom to go to as many Doctors as he wants to get more prescriptions for Oxy's.

There really is no conservative party. It's all about getting back at "teh liberuls."

So fucking stupid.

Dickhat

Trump made it abundantly clear as to what the conservatives stand for: being a bulwark against the far-left Democrats who want to implement socialism and destroy everything that makes America great in the process.

Given that you are a person of low intellect, I can see why you would confuse a defensive ideology with no ideology at all.

LoL. Reactionary gonna reactionary. When's the last time you spent time in your life working towards some goals? Or read some secular sources of information.

Dukhat,

You said the conservatives don't stand for anything. I pointed out that they did.

Maintenance of the status quo is itself a major goal when the primary opposition wants to set the status quo on fire.

Also, you're an idiot who has no political opinions of your own, you just repeat verbatim what Ezra Klein and an army of CNN opinionators tell you to believe. So your projection in this thread is quite hilarious.

Status quo has no inherent value. Protecting the status quo because it is how it has been or is doesn't really count as any sort of stance. There needs to be a reason, and "because people want to change it!!!!" is indeed a flimsy-at-best reason.

Amazing to me that Ruggy thinks the democrats re ultra-left. They are more centre-right.

Hood,

Ah, the classic fallacy that progression and progress are the same thing. What should I expect next, the argument that leftwing ideas are destined to win out in the end because they're on the "right side of history?"

Of course you can find value in the status quo. "I like American-style capitalism because it is compatible with liberal democracy and brings economic prosperity to the general citizenry, and I dont want to see it replaced" is a perfectly acceptable argument. Just because you're not FOR CHANGING anything doesnt mean that you're not FOR something at all.

Jergul,

Lol. No.

Please point out where I made any such fallacy or mentioned progress whatsoever. What I stated, for people who aren't illiterate, is that arguing that the definition of status quo (things as they are now is the definition of status quo) as a valid stance is extremely flimsy. "We don't want things to change because it's status quo" is nothing more than defining status quo. It's not an argument.

Discussing American style capitalism is an actual argument.

Hood,

Trump spent like a fourth of his speech talking about the health of the American economy under it's current (capitalistic) system. So I really need to spell out this stuff?

lol, yes.

Watching you discuss politics is like watching mensheviks and bolsheviks discuss stuff. Its degrees of socialism, Russian style.

In the US, its degrees of right.

Hood,

Your entire OP was based on a bad premise.

Jergul,

Leaving aside the fact that Democrats have always tended to be global extremists on many social policies (see: gay marriage), your insistence on applying European standards of left and right on American politics is not appropriate and is therefore rejected.

Quit it with the cultural imperialism, bro.

Not even European standards, Norwegian ones. There are plenty of places in Europe where Scandinavian leftism is considered batshit insane.

"Protecting the status quo because it is how it has been or is doesn't really count as any sort of stance."

Bullshit.

We want to take your guns and fuck you ya can't have our guns are both a stance. One is status quo the other not so much but both are taking a stance.

Much the same with the abortion issue. People who believe the current laws are fine are taking as much a stance as those that want to end all abortions and those that want no restrictions on abortion. They usually are not as vocal but that is human nature. We are much more apt to speak out when we disagree with something.

To quote Rush (the Canadian ones) "If you choose not to decide You still have made a choice"

Wanting to keep the status quo just because it's the status quo is what he's talking about as not really taking a stance. You can pick nits and say it's still a stance, blah blah blah, but it's fucking lame and useless.

Now, if you want to keep the status quo because you agree with/believe in the underlying laws/whatever, then that's actually taking a stance.
