Utopia Talk / Politics / Would a Boeing pull this off?
Paramount
Member | Sun Feb 16 16:27:13 I know that it is much thanks to the pilot that it went well, but having an Airbus surely must help? Not sure a pilot could do this with a Boeing. Daayum... look at that landing. He is landing the airliner sideways! lol http://www...sideways-landing-a9338201.html |

Member | Mon Feb 17 23:05:05 Do you have any knowledge whatsoever about aircraft or aviation? Or is this just another entry in your long series of America-obsessed ramblings? |

Member | Mon Feb 17 23:09:40 I mean it's a cool video, but what on earth compels you to bring Boeing into this? Oh it's an American company. Coincidence? Any reason whatsoever to believe a pilot in a Boeing couldn't pull off the same maneuver? No. Could your agenda be any clearer? I Googled for 5 seconds and found this video. It's a Boeing landing sideways: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPn3MBNt7Rc |

Member | Mon Feb 17 23:17:54 Planes are designed to fly in shitty weather and pilots are trained to land them. It looks cool but there's nothing unremarkable about the video. If Boeings couldn't land in a fucking crosswind, then there would be planes crashing every single day. It wouldn't even be newsworthy. |

Member | Tue Feb 18 10:37:47 Yeah, I've been on airliners that have landed like that. Boeings, in fact. I'm guessing most people that have flown throughout their lives even a moderate amount have. |

Member | Tue Feb 18 11:02:01 As far as I know there is only one plane designed with swiveling landing gears that adjust for crosswinds. It is a Boeing design. |

Member | Tue Feb 18 11:14:28 I’m not convinced. |

Member | Tue Feb 18 11:19:17 I was wrong. There seems to be two with swiveling landing gears. Boeing B52H and Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy. Of course they aren't domestic transports. |
