Voter supression would be a much bigger deal than actual deaths. Its hard to imagine groups at risk trundling down en mass to the the polling stations if the outbreak reboots come flu season in October.

100 seems low. Each unidentified infected person should infect about 3 others over the course of 14 days.

But this is not an exact science. Anything between 100 and 1000 is close enough.

Ah, ok. I would not argue with 50-500 either. The problem is more that whatever number doubles every 100 hours.

So its more a question of where we are on the timeline than anything else (50 people is 400 hours behind 500 people).

"Since January, the CDC had been publishing a cumulative total of US novel coronavirus cases and the number of patients who have been tested in the United States.

The change on Monday was met with skepticism from Rep. Mark Pocan, a Wisconsin Democrat.

According to Pocan's letter, on Sunday the CDC's website listed how many cases were travel-rated, the number of person-to-person cases, the total number of people tested, and the number of coronavirus deaths.

But on Monday, the website no longer listed the number of people in the United States who had been tested."

If we do need it (most likely case being the area needing to self-quarantine for a few weeks like we've seen in other countries), my parents will be safer and not have to deal with panicing people in grocery stores.

People are getting diagnosed at a faster rate than ever.

Right now we know that globally, 3.5% of those diagnosed die.

The UK has 85 diagnosed and 0 deaths. The expectation is 3 deaths.

It is in other words catching a lot of people with few or any symptoms.

The US has 138 diagnoses and 9 deaths. It should have 260 diagnoses.

It is in other words missing a lot of people that it needs to catch to meet global averages.

The cdc has tested 1100 samples in last report. 12.5% infection rate.

Its hard to be predicative other than saying US test levels are really, really low and the number of deaths high in ratio of confirmed infected compared to what the rest of the world is doing.

They have not even tested all of the patients and staff at that Life Care institution.

Ya they didnt even have enough testing ability in place to handle more than a few patients until this week. Tards. Its also possible that the us death rate is artificially high cause its mainly blowing up an old folks home. But i agree its more likely that there are 100s of undiagnosed minor cases in healthier/younger people.

Funny how old you have to be to recognize that flock behaviour matters. Even the 3.5% to create a revolution amounts to a small flock triggering a stampede amongst a much larger flock.

This could incidentally be hardwired. Many mammals have a wanderlust stage when young animals break away from the group and wander about in primeval hipster misery.

Having this many old people around is a fairly recent phenomena and so is the unprecedented speed of social and general progress. Decent correlation. All the backward and savage places on this planet have young populations. Even back when we were medieval and hatched our most terrible ideas, no where near this many old people. Obviously old people are acting as a filter for all of the most terrible ideas young people have, like that one girl wanting us to panic over Australian bush fires or the other guy, whose life is over because Debbie broke his heart. Old people may be backwards, but they are backwards based on much more experience!

I am not disagreeing, but my point was a bit different: Low voter turn out amongs yung-uns may be hardwired.

Though if you do look at deciders, they seem to be as old as fuck:

Nimatzo

Of that there is no doubt, spurious correlation is spurious, there are other factors that matter :) It just, there is this idea, ”if it were not for the old people we would...”. As a matter of fact we had 2 world wars that predominantly killed young men and we had some of biggest social revolutions following those wars. I don’t think age of the electorate matters that much. Things tend to reach some form of equlibrium the further we go. (I am sure it has to do with some yet unexplained thermodynamic phenomena!) Which is bad when a country decides to leave the EU with a hair thin majority or elects a president with a minority of the popular vote.

Hardwired, like not giving a fuck about an action (voting) that is literally 1 among millions? Things that require long term thinking and such? Yea I believe it is hardwired ;-)
