That is how the feds will take away your guns and ammo. Hoarding will be your crime.

Civil forfeiture is just the start sammy. The Government can invent all kinds of reasons to take your toys away.

The leap there is of course the government siezing the masks as soon as the arrest was made.

Do you understand civil forfeiture?

Do you or do you not think the authorities siezed the fellows masks?

Chances are they took the masks because he lied about having them and how he got them. He can petition to get them back but probably that will fail. Had he admitted he had all those supplies he might could have kept the supplies but still would be charged with price gouging and would have lost the money he made from the gouging plus additional fines. Most states have price gouging laws. They have been in place for decades.

For guns and ammo to be taken away the government would have to classify them as essential along the lines of bottled water after a hurricane. That isn't going to happen.

You should read up on civil forfeiture too.

Ultimately, the Government cannot stop you from buying guns and you cannot stop the government from taking guns away if it feels so inclined.

There is no exemption for firearms and civil forfeiture.

Its the government taking advantage of possession being 9/10s of the law.

Not hard to understand.

The 2nd ammendment giveth. Civil forfeiture taketh away.

Nothing to stop the victim from replacing lost guns, but challenging government possession of anything is a daunting task.

Kargen: "For guns and ammo to be taken away the government would have to classify them as essential along the lines of bottled water after a hurricane. That isn't going to happen."

CNN: "As states around the country issue "stay-at-home" orders amid the coronavirus pandemic, firearm and ammunition retailers have been designated an "essential service," according to updated guidance from the federal government.

Christopher Krebs, director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, identified "firearm and ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges" as critical infrastructure in the updated "Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce" advisory, which was issued over the weekend."

For guns and ammo to be taken away, 50 million heavily armed americans would have to allow it.

We are the real silent majority. Its the ultimate trump card.

I was never suggesting a mass roundup. How would that happen? The Gov can't even get testing done in this crisis.

To put it this way. Imagine a new national Congress. Would a new common constitution possibly be formulated and ratified by the current states?

Hint: No. Not in a million years.

Your country has diverged.

How long can you keep up the pretence on inertia alone?

Well, With current methods no there NO universe where we would agree on a federal constitution.

But the Nation has grown, alot.

The problem imo is one we see on this board all the time.

If 2 people have different opinions on the same issue the other is considered both retarded and evil. Its hard to agree with evil retards.

It is actually a huge problem.

The limited rally around the flag effect is not only Trump. I don't think anyone would see jumps to the 80-90% approval rating crisis used to give presidents (at least initially).

Remove the 25% troll that Nimi suggests I often spice posts with.

There is a strong argument for devolution - transfer more power and authority to the States. This can be done practically by simply rolling back some federal overreach.

Partisanship has a tendency to stack by State. More power at state level would give a greater degree of unity overall.

^Heh, still 25% troll. That post is fucking with Ruggy. He would be hard put not to agree with it.

And he really hates it when that happens :D.
