It looks like USA's leading expert on infectious diseases is using the Corona virus to undermine Trump:

WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases, who has become a regular at President Trump’s coronavirus briefings, will receive enhanced personal security after receiving threats following his repeated pleas for Americans to help slow the spread of the deadly pandemic, officials said on Wednesday.

Dr. Fauci has been the Trump administration’s most outspoken advocate of social distancing rules that have shuttered the nation’s schools, forced businesses to close, kept people in their homes and battered the United States economy.

That has made him a target of online conspiracy theorists who have accused Dr. Fauci, a longtime scientist and civil servant who has served presidents of both parties, of trying to undermine Mr. Trump during a year in which the president is fighting for re-election.

[...]

The idea that Dr. Fauci is responsible for the country’s hardship — and for whatever political damage Mr. Trump might suffer as a result — was fueled in part by a moment during a news briefing in which Dr. Fauci dropped his head and touched his forehead as the president was speaking. The image went viral online and right-wing supporters of Mr. Trump cited it as evidence that Dr. Fauci sought to undercut the president.

^ I think I said it some days ago... can't Trump fire him? Because now is not the time for Experts and Doctors to make Trump look dumb.

Germany has figured out how to mass test without false positives warping the result.

Just mix the samples of 10 people and test that.

A higher % of the combined sample will be positive and this will dwarf the impact of false positives.

This only works until the infection rate in the general population is high enough to dwarf false positives anyway (if 50% of the population is infected, then mixing 10 samples would give a positive test result 99.92% of the time).

If the US can't mobilize FEMA's death camps before April's up, and isn't age to surge ventilators, it'll become a big deal.

In Europe it'll be whatever. You're all communists at heart, you don't value the old.

I'm worried about India though. Summer will halt the onslaught but I hope that come fall the world still has them cut off.

But right now it's no big deal. We already know that total cases is well into the millions.

Scientists have already tracked the Coronavirus and it is unlikely to mutate in a meaningful way before we develop a vaccine. In other words, the vaccine will work.

Ecuadorean authorities said on Monday they would improve the collection of corpses, as delays related to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus has left families keeping their loved ones’ bodies in their homes for days in some cases.

Residents of Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city, have complained they have no way to dispose of relatives’ remains due to strict quarantine and curfew measures designed to prevent spread of the disease. Last week, authorities said they had removed 100 corpses from homes in Guayaquil.

But delays in collecting bodies in the Andean country, which has reported 1,966 cases of the virus and 62 deaths, were evident midday on Monday in downtown Guayaquil, where a man’s dead body lay on a sidewalk under a blue plastic sheet, according to a Reuters witness.

Police said the man had collapsed while waiting in line to enter a store. Reuters could not identify the man or the cause of his death. Hours later on Monday, the body had been removed.

“The government’s intention is that everyone who passes away these days in Guayaquil, not just those who have died from COVID-19, can have a dignified burial,” Vice President Otto Sonnenholzner told reporters on Monday,

Authorities also announced they would create a task force for collecting and burying the dead. Emergency humanitarian flights were suspended for Ecuadoreans who had been stranded abroad due to travel restrictions and were seeking to return to the country.

More than 70% of the country’s coronavirus cases, which is among the highest tallies in Latin America, are in the southern province of Guayas, where Guayaquil is located.

Luiggi Ponce, a 22-year-old who lives in a working class area of the city, believes his uncle, who died four days ago, was infected. The body is still in his home, where five children and seven adults live.

“He had pneumonia, he had a fever, he could not breathe, he had all the symptoms,” Ponce said via telephone. “The body is wrapped up in plastic. The whole house smells bad.”

Local media have broadcast images of long lines outside cemeteries in Guayaquil of people seeking burial for deceased relatives.

Sebastian Barahona, coordinator of the National Federation of Funeral Homes, said Guayaquil was seeing around five times more deaths in March than a normal month.

“The response capacity is not prepared for what this emergency requires,” Barahona said.

professors of medicine at the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and members of the Global Virus Network.

As physicians and researchers, we have spoken to doctors across the country over the past few weeks and kept hearing variations on this description of the novel coronavirus’s spread: It’s like a chemical bomb went off. One day everything seemed normal, and the next everyone became sick: patients, nurses, family members.

The pattern is scary, but familiar. Seasonal respiratory viruses, most infamously influenza, can act in the same explosive fashion. In temperate areas, every fall and winter, as the weather cools and humidity drops, influenza ferociously takes hold and retains a strong grip until spring. There are four coronaviruses — viruses that are common in humans, usually causing moderate respiratory illnesses — that are also seasonal.

Full coverage of the coronavirus pandemic

With covid-19, there is an even more frightening pattern of exponential growth than exists for influenza. At times it seems to be ripping through populations that have no previous immunity. But there also appears to be a distinct geographical pattern. The virus has spread globally with clusters of infection, often spread by travelers, in most countries. But certain locations were hit much harder than others: Wuhan in China, Daegu in South Korea, Milan, Tehran, central France, northern Spain, Germany, Seattle, and now New York.

Why not Hong Kong, Singapore or Bangkok? They were directly in harm’s way, relatively near Wuhan, where the pandemic began, and highly connected to it by trade and travel. Are we to believe, as many assert, that these places were simply superior at implementing quarantine procedures? And what about cities well north of China, such as Moscow or Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, that have also not been much affected?

When we noticed this pattern, we began to suspect that the coronavirus causing covid-19 was spreading like a seasonal virus. We launched a study at the Institute of Human Virology, part of the Global Virus Network, along with colleagues at the University of Maryland at College Park and researchers in Iran, to try to find out.

Sign up for our Coronavirus Updates newsletter to track the outbreak. All stories linked in the newsletter are free to access.

Our research determined that all the major affected areas in January through early March were in the Northern Hemisphere between 30 and 50 degrees north latitude. And the areas had nearly identical temperatures of 41 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit and low humidity in the weeks before they recorded their first covid-19 death.

Those conditions are similar to the laboratory conditions that maximize survival for seasonal respiratory viruses and are most conducive for transmission. Cooler temperatures are known to increase the survival of respiratory viruses on surfaces, help stabilize (along with low humidity) the aerosol floating in air, and even increase viral replication in some instances.

The notion that the virus causing covid-19 will behave as a seasonal respiratory virus is a controversial one, because a whole season’s worth of data isn’t available yet, and because it risks stirring false hope that might inspire shortsighted policymaking. Even though we believe that covid-19 is behaving as a seasonal respiratory virus, that view comes with an enormous caveat: The study of past pandemics, from the whooping cough in 1400s Persia to the 2009 H1N1 virus in the United States, shows that new infections that eventually are regarded as seasonal afflictions can behave erratically (due to a lack of widespread immunity) until they settle into their characteristic pattern.

The campaigns against covid-19 in areas now affected should certainly not be tailored in the expectation of a seasonal retreat that might not come. But bolstering preparedness in northern regions where the pandemic could soon spread would be wise.

We’re working on models right now to validate and refine our findings and identify the communities where likely temperature and humidity levels in April and May could make them a covid-19 target, and those likely to be hit in the coming fall and winter. That could greatly aid preparation efforts, including the deployment of testing and protective equipment.

Could covid-19 disappear permanently, as SARS did, in the summer? Will it be controlled by public health measures, as MERS was? Or will it, like the four other seasonal coronaviruses, retreat into the tropics and Southern Hemisphere, set up a home, and become the fifth human coronavirus, reemerging again in the fall for another season or longer? Will the extraordinary current global efforts send this pathogen into oblivion?

The Opinions section is looking for stories of how the coronavirus has affected people of all walks of life. Write to us.

To answer these questions, it is essential to conduct widespread serological testing so scientists can fully understand the pandemic, establishing a profile of who has and has not been infected and allowing improved modeling of covid-19’s spread. The world isn’t helpless, and the fightback is well underway, but a vital weapon will be finding out whether covid-19 will indeed act like other human coronaviruses and change with the seasons

Re mutations
Dickhat is a moron, he is refering to 1 study, meanwhile another yet unpublished Icelandic study claims 40 mutations originating in Europe. It’s an RNA virus and they are notorious for mutating, because they have no repair function AKA quality control when transcribing the genetic material. This one could be the exception, but there is certainly no basis for Dickturds assertions, that it in fact is.

Keep in mind:

It’s just a flu.

It’s not just a flu.

"Re seasonality, it is spreading just fine in the southern hemisphere. "

Arizona gets hit hard by the flu every year despite warm weather. This is because people from shitholes come here for the weather and infect everyone with their influenza. Once the weather warms and the shitholes stop getting the flu, it stops spreading.

So there is still hope it dies down in the coming weeks.

Mortality may be lower because of odd reporting. Mortality may be higher because not all deaths are reported as such and we have idea how many actually are infected. It could mutate, it could be stable. It could be seasonal it may not be etc. and so on.

When so many critical factors are unknown, it is like fumbling in the dark, you just react to whatever hits you in the face.

We know enough at this point to get fairly close with most of the stats. Case mortality is around 0.5 to 1%, making it 10-20x or so worse than the flu. Hospitalization/serious cases are also about 10-20x more likely than with the flu. It infects about 2-3 new people for every case in an unrestricted environment... pretty bad but not horrific. Like most afflictions, it strongly prefers to savage the already unhealthy without excess cardio capacity. Unlike most afflictions, it prefers not to fuck with the very young.

Sure we will refine these numbers a little but we are solidly in the correct ballpark now.

The last remaining question is how stable it is... will it be eliminated by a single vaccine.

Also it's not doing that hot in the southern hemisphere, re: Australia. Also Brazil hasn't collapsed yet.

And this is beginning of flu season in the southern hemisphere.

As temperatures raise in southern Europe and the US, we should see fewer cases there and more in Australia and new Zealand. Also Brazil will likely collapse.

The incubation period of this thing is so long at 2-14 days. If you talk to someone outside in hot and humid weather, you will still infect them. And weather doesn't affect the temperature in crowded offices and malls.

Seasonality helps but this disease is a silent killer.

Religious retards

http://www...to-dozens-of-coronavirus-cases

A Pentecostal church in a Sacramento suburb is the epicenter of a coronavirus outbreak with more than six dozen confirmed cases, prompting county officials to warn against religious gatherings.

“It’s outrageous that this is happening,” said Dr. Peter Beilenson, the Sacramento County public health director. “Obviously there is freedom of religion, but when it’s impacting public health as this is, we have to enforce social distancing.”

The church, Bethany Slavic Missionary Church, did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday. But Beilenson said health officials were concerned that church members may still be meeting in private homes to conduct services, despite county orders.

“Whether or not you have community-wide sermons or meetings in people’s houses, they are all dangers and they are very detrimental to the public’s health,” Beilenson said.

Beilenson said 71 of the church’s members who live in Sacramento County have tested positive, and more members who live in surrounding counties also have confirmed cases, though he could not immediately say how many.

Information and sermons on the church’s website indicate it stopped holding large gatherings March 18. The church is the largest Russian-language Pentecostal church in the area and has a congregation of more than 3,000 people, according to published reports. Its two-story building is normally packed with congregants, many of them older immigrants, during multiple services each week.

According to a sermon from Sunday posted online, the church’s senior pastor, Adam Bondaruk, is hospitalized with the virus, as are two other pastors, who were described as “critically ill” by an unidentified pastor in the video.

“We have many different people in our church, they are ill, so we need to pray. We need to intervene,” the pastor continued in the video. “God will hear us, and he will heal us.”

The church has met with controversy in the past, including for anti-gay rhetoric. This year, a well on the church’s property that was used by congregants was found to be contaminated with chemicals from a nearby military base. One of the church’s officials was convicted of pedophilia in 2018.

People over 60 work and contribute to GDP and economy. There is no existential threat, even if we lose everyone over 50 or 40, the species will survive. How big the deal is, is always relative. It is simply not desirable to lose 100k people during 1 flu season. I can afford a great many disasters, doesn’t mean I want to pay it if I don’t have to.

Perhaps in occupations that involves manual labor, but where I work the old farts are competent people with degrees, decades of experience and a critical part of the institutional memory. A rapid loss of those people is not desirable, at all. They are not at all easy to replace, you want plenty of time to transfer knowledge.

And their contribution goes beyond work, they eat and buy stuff. It isn’t a negligable loss of GDP.

Virii are an actual existential threat, unlike muslim gang rapers. Muslim beheaders do not grow exponentially and do not mutate. So, as someone fairly worried about immigration and Islamists I find your priorities are not really anchored in the real world.

Generally people in their 60’s do not live in nursing homes in Sweden, they work. 15-100k is still not an interval that counts as ”a few”.

You have a view so narrow of ”work” that it is useless outside of whatever niche you are living in. I am surrounded by researchers, scientists and engineers, they are old, wise and competent, it isn’t debatablr really. This group is also notorious for being able to work well beyond retirement age, and not surprisingly they often do.

I think a couple of terrorist attacks and a few more rapes is an acceptable cost for cheaper labor and falafel stands. Jihadis unlike virus can only blow themselves up once and kill people.

Nobody is irreplaceable. And there's nothing stopping them from self isolating until a vaccine is ready.

We haven't got to tank the economy over this if the vast majority of people are not significantly impacted.

Ofc maybe we should just start executing the elderly. It would accelerate the transfer of knowledge after a while. I guess the healthcare industry would take a hit given theyd have so much less work but oh well.

Okay. So we have to exterminate corona, Muslims, the Chinese, and the elderly. Seems like we can accomplish all these things in a reasonable amount of time.

> Lulz...Boogaloo when?

---

> Boogaloo

> A term popular among many Libertarians, mostly based in the United States.

> Definition: A term to describe the action of actively rebelling against the government (State or Federal) when said federal government (or state government) tries to enforce tyrannical rule upon its citizens, taking away their rights to arms and then their inalienable human rights. This in any case is the prepared civilian response to such case, think bug-out bags and doomsday preppers but with a lot more weapons and munitions.

> Note: This situation could also apply to the collapse of government.

> Example Usages:

> “I swear, if the government tries to take our guns, a boogaloo will be their reckoning”

> “Remember to stock up on hollow-point for the Boogaloo!”

...what a cunty edgelord method of existence you've happened upon.

Do you have hobbies other than fantasizing about all the different scenarios in which the gubmint might come for your guns?

Civil unrest can come in many forms that don't include retards pushing for gun confiscation. No empire in the history of the world has avoided collapse to date.

Unfortunately, I already lost all my guns in a terrible boating accident

They will become professional killers

http://www...newborn-twins-corona-and-covid

A couple in India named their newborn twins Corona and Covid after they were delivered during the country’s ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

“The delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, my husband and I wanted to make the day memorable,” Preeti Verma, the 27-old mother, told the Press Trust of India.

Preeti and Vinay Verma say the names will remind their children as they grow up about the hardships faced during the lockdown. And, hopefully, the family's triumph over adversity.

At least he didn't pull a Cuckhat and quote Vox or Vice and claim it's just a brand of crypto-Stormfront speak for a race war.

But yeah, imagine reading all of these threads, and the thing that sticks out and triggers you is one meme that indicates that someone isn't concerned with the perpetual continuation of a shit government. lulz

To make my point - because I really don't think you understand - and then move on.

Ctrl-F "Forwyn" in this thread. The extent of your contribution was:

> Lulz. I heard people are dying. Get ready for the boogaloo.

Don't confuse the contributions that other people made with your own.

My bitch isn't the idea of boogaloo, though fwiw it does make you sound unhinged. My bitch is that you're a grown man in America (and a vet to boot?) and yet:

A: The only reaction you can muster is "lulz, people are dying" - the exact same one a 14 year old retard in a 311 cover band would have had watching people jump from WTC on 9/11. You've had nineteen years to build a life since then and that's where you are.

B: Setting aside the "lulz", some assholes are still capable of interesting analysis. The only analysis you can muster is "boogaloo acomin!" You're so used to looking at the world through Ruby Ridge tinted glasses that that's your takeaway? Those are the only neurons firing?

C: Your country's domestic energy industry is getting fucked in the ass by Russia and the Saudis, China fucked the world in the ass and now is in a position to be sending disaster relief to the United States(!), but your concern is still "be ready for the gubmint to try some shit." Your boy in the White House won't even wear a mask under advice of his own staff and thinks there are good people on both sides but you're still sitting here clasping your copy of the Turner Diaries like it's Obama's fucking inauguration day.

America isn't fucked because of Coronavirus or recessions or alphabet people or the federal govt being tyrannical, it's fucked because of 30-somethings like you who are incapable of setting aside their fantasy lives long enough to engage with the the real world for 30 seconds. You're so stuck on being ready to "water the tree if liberty" that you can't see the real crisis in front of you.

Your first mistake was expecting "contribution" of any more value in the 19 Corona threads than the 30 tw Trump threads.

Your second mistake was being triggered enough to write multiple paragraphs about "Boogaloo when" when the point of the comment was to pass on that a doctor friend on a 21-day contract in NYC reported a fellow doc having a 34/34 mortality rate in an inner-city ICU. You could have written that off as secondhand info, because, hey - I notated it as such for you. Instead you went on a deranged rant while calling other people deranged, filling in the blanks with your retarded strawmen.

But please, start now on a geopolitical rant about the Russia-Saudi-China axis and its ramifications for us. I'm gonna enjoy what's left of my Sunday, before I have to set aside my fantasy life and get back to my essential job, helping to keep the shithole running while your gaping pussy leaks. Watch that blood pressure, it exacerbates secondary Wuhan Flu complications.

http://www...tent-coronavirus-symptoms.html

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to the hospital for tests 10 days after contracting the coronavirus.

A Downing Street spokesperson said it's a "precautionary step" since the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of the virus. (…)

The Queen's (lol what grownup calls herself a queen?) fulltime "job" for the last few decades has been nothing but damage control for her shitty family. Who cares about that old hag?

[smart dude]: "Who cares about that old hag?"

The losers over on Imgur have been making pro-queen posts about her. People who say, "She's not so great," or, "Monarchies shouldn't exist," quickly find themselves in the buried/down-vote section.

Ah shit another disappointment

http://www...e-unreliable-uk-scientists-say

The huge stock of 17.5m antibody home testing kits ordered by the government after Boris Johnson said they could be a “game changer” could in fact be unreliable, scientists have said, saying that they may fail to detect up to half of coronavirus cases.

After the prospect of the pregnancy test-style kits was first raised, it was suggested the tests would be made available “within days” on Amazon and via Boots, to allow people who have had the virus to return to the workplace confident in the knowledge that they are safe.

But in recent days, ministers have appeared to play down the likelihood of the tests being universally effective, with the health secretary, Matt Hancock, saying on Sunday that the tests were not yet “good enough”.

Now scientists involved in validating home testing kits have told the Guardian that no test on the market has yet been shown to be sufficiently reliable. Some kits, which claim a more than 90% rate of accuracy, appear to have been tested only in hospital on patients with very significant symptoms.

One expert told the Guardian that in reality the sensitivity of the tests was likely to be relatively low and more likely to detect 50%-60% of those with milder symptoms – the group for whom the tests were intended.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been taken into intensive care in hospital with coronavirus.

He has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him, a No 10 spokesman said.
