The EU really needs to step up there game. Even now it has hindered there covid response due to conflicts with US tech firms. But it has other far reaching issues.

So whats the deal, why has Europe fallen behind in the tech center?

The best answers I get are that Europeans fear risk taking so they rely on The US and China for that.

Sounds lile a weak answer but i guess they are all surrender monkeys.

Well, it looks like the EU might be getting twitter and other social media giants relatively soon.

Yeah, I doubt that.

I did see a NYT article about the EU trying to foster there own big tech.

Some articles claim that Europe is too fragmented of a market. But I dont buy that either, SK is a small nation that has big tech.

SK is a unique model of capitalism though, the entire nation works for a hand full of firms that are intertwined with government in a unique to SK sort of way.

Spotify was born in Sweden. Skype was also Swedish until Microsoft bought it.

The technical know how amd talent seem to be there. Mabry it has more.to do with venture capital?

I'm curious and I'm not buying the answers I got from Google.

Yup. Venture Capital, I think. Much of the moneys are in the US and China.

Much of which has to be filtered through the Hong Kong financial markets. Hopefully China doesn't do anything to upset HK's status as a free and fair financial hub.

I think the competition would be too hard and it would cost a lot of money to start something like a new google.

But that’s not just something that you start at once. It took years for google to grow to what they are today.

But... the seed to tomorrow’s google or amazon may be something that a European kid starts in his room next month or next year.

Does Europe have a tech center?

Like China has Shenzhen and the US has Silicon Valley.... Im not sure about SK but like I said SK really is unique, but not in unreplicable.

I don’t think Europe has a common official tech center. Each country has its own tech centres I believe.

But if Europe would have one, it would probably be some tech centre in Germany.
